WSOP 2008
As play worked into the second level of the day an announcement was made with the final numbers for the tournament. There was some concern that the turnout would be drastically lower than past years but with a total of 545 registered players the field only fell about 100 players short of last year and still yields a payout to the top 100 players with a first prize of a hefty $3,389,140.
Second place will take home $1,714,800 and third will be just under a million at $923,355. Players finishing between 51st and 100th will earn $39,570 and the payouts go up every 10 spots from there until they get down to the final few tables.
After a full 5 levels of play yesterday and 2 levels today there have been only 49 total eliminations and there are still 496 players alive with the hope of taking home the WPT Championship title and over $3 million.
