After doubling up Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers it was back to the short stack for Chris Ferguson. It wasn’t long before Chris had all his chips in the middle again though, and with a good chance of doubling them. After Ferguson had raised to 300k preflop and Andrew Cimpan called the flop came out T

and Ferguson checked over to Cimpan. Andrew moved all in, enough to cover Ferguson’s remaining stack and after a few minutes of thought Chris made the call.
Ferguson (right) had the {Ak}K
for ace high with two over cards while Cimpan had pocket fours for an under pair to the board. Ferguson needed to pair his ace or kind, or to have the board pair again to win the pot. The 6
on the turn meant he needed an ace, king, ten, or six on the river but instead it was the 3
and Cimpan was able to eliminate Ferguson in 6th place for $240,538.
After Pat Walsh moved his 1.24 million stack all in preflop Sowers came over the top all in from the small blind, forcing out Binh Nguyen and isolating Walsh. The two were in a race situation with Sowers A

flop left Mike looking for runner runner in the hand. Instead the turn was the 2
and Walsh was guaranteed a double up, building his stack to over 2.5 million and continuing the up and down day for Sowers, who fell to 1.6 million.
The players went on break after the all in between Sowers and Walsh and tournament director Matt Savage announced these chip counts for the players:
Andrew Cimpan - 3,745,000
Chris Karagulleyan - 3,100,000
Pat Walsh - 2,810,000
Binh Nguyen - 2,725,000
Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers - 1,520,000
After the break the most common statement heard from Matt Savage as he announces the action has been “and Mike Sowers wins the pot.” A stretch of aggressive play has seen Sowers pick up pot after pot, quickly building his stack back to over 2.8 million.
