John Juanda and Glen “Choron” Chorny have between them the two biggest poker titles from Europe over the last year. Juanda recently took over from Annette “Annette_15″ Obrestad as the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event Champion and Chorny is the reigning victor of the European Poker Tour Grand Finale in Monte Carlo. Both Chorny and Juanda had much less success here in Canada though, being eliminated during their first day of play in Niagara Falls.
Another player that has spent some time on the felt in Europe, Joe “BigEgypt” Elpayaa (left), had a short run at the NAPC. Elpayaa was eliminated earlier in the day.
The tournament has now worked its way into the last level of the last of the day 1s. After the group from today finishes up their day 1C action everyone will come back tomorrow at noon for day 2 play. The total field of 454 will have been cut to under 300, and the action is expected to start at a brisk pace tomorrow with the short stacks from day 1 action forced to start making moves.
