Ran Azor showed his willingness to fold big hands earlier when he tossed pocket kings preflop, but when Eugene Katchalov moved in for 1,185,000 he made the call with the A
K
and was ahead of Katcholov’s J
7
and stayed that way on the Q-T-5-J-3 board. Eugene made a pair on the turn, but the jack also gave Azor the straight and a lock on the hand.
For his 9th place finish Katchalov (left) earns $130,735. For a while on day 4 it looked like Katchalov might run away with the tournament, but things change fast in poker and after a rough day 5 Katchalov never really got going here during the playdown day. He was in a tough spot with Shannon Shorr, Yevgeniy “Atimos” Timoshenko and Christian “charder” Harder on his right for todays play.
Brian “tsarrast” Rast was able to get a double up through Harder to avoid being the 8th place finisher when his pocket deuces held up against the AK of harder on a 9-7-4-J-6 board. Rast was up to almost 2.5 million after the hand.
Chip Counts:
