Eights Full of Tens are Good This Time by Rich on 07.06.09, 1:51 am

Players are on the tail-end of a 20 minute break here on Day 1C of the 2009 Main Event. Play will resume for one more level before the remaining runners bag and tag.

Andrew “tufat23″ Teng has had trouble accumulating chips today and the player directly to his left has been problematic. Teng, pictured left, lost a handful of sizable pots just in blind battles with him.

Andrew’s luck changed moments ago when he shoved all in on a T84T board. A player sitting across from him called, but didn’t want to show after Teng tabled 88. Of course the player was forced to show and he was drawing dead with A5. The river was the J and Andrew pulled in the pot. Teng is sitting pretty on break, he went from 24K to 74K in just an hour’s time.

Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista busted quickly after the previous break. When we walked by his table we saw him all in holding A2 against an opponent’s AK. The board ran KJ85J and Batista darted for the door.

We missed the hand, but walked over to Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul’s table just in time to see his stack being counted down after doubling up. We weren’t quite sure at what point Kevin’s pocket queens got it all-in against David Singer’s A5, but Saul was kind enough to fill us in once the hand was over.

“I raised his blind every hand, so…,” Saul began. “I opened to 800 in late position, David raised to 2.7K, I reraised to 7.8K, and he moved all-in. ” Singer had Saul covered, but had to fork over 30K once the hand was said and done. Saul now has around 64K.

Eric “p3achy_keen” Liu also got it all-in with the best of it, but with much less favorable results. His tablemate Andy “BKiCe” Seth filled us in on how Liu raised preflop and the opponent on his immediate left called. The flop came down K-10-9, Eric bet, and the other player called. The turn was an ace, Eric bet again, his opponent moved all-in and Liu called with A-K for top two pair. The other player showed A-Q and was dead to a jack for straight. He hit the four-outer to take down the pot and send Eric to the rail midway through Level Four.
