Dunst’s Aces Can’t Beat Kings by Rachel on 07.06.09, 4:29 pm

Early in the first level Tony “Bond18″ Dunst (pictured at left) made a re-raise to 1.3K before the flop and the player in seat five made it 5K more. Dunst called from his position on the button and the flop was 842. Seat five led out for a 5K and Dunst quickly made it 8K more. The other player then moved all in and Dunst snap-called.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Bond turned over AA. His opponent tabled KK.

The turn card: K.

Dunst, still eating the apple he arrived with today, grinned, even as the player in seat six informed the table he had folded A-K. There was no miracle for Bond on the river (it was the Q) and he was left with about 300 chips.

A member of the media was watching the hand while holding a stuffed monkey (part of some sort of prop bet, we presume), prompting Dunst to say, “Give me that monkey.”

The good news is that at last check Dunst is still holding the monkey. He moved all in on the next hand with A3 and doubled up against KK when the board ran out T433-2x. The hand after that he was all in again but did not find a caller. He expressed his surprise that no one had called and tabled KK himself.

After the hand, Dunst was up to about 1.2K. Adam “Roothlus” Levy, who is seated at the next table, pointed out that Bond was back above 10 big blinds with the blinds still at 50/100 for another hour or so.

Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire, Jeff “ActionJeff” Garza and Eric “EFro” Froelich are all seated at the same table in Brasilia.

The Blue section of the Amazon Room is loaded with online talent as well. Brent “Astrolux85″ Roberts, Glen “choron” Chorny, Blair “blur5f6″ Hunkle, Scott “BigRiskky” Clements, Zac “traction” Gilbert and Josh “theNorfman” Norris have taken their seats. Bracelet winners from this year Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin and Brian “ship_the_perc” Lemke are also there, as well as CardRunners instructor Andrew “muddywatters” Wiggins.

We also spotted Ken “isuck123″ Goldin in the Amazon Room. No word yet on whether he’s peddling Derek Jeter rookie cards at his table.

Jason “JCarver” Somerville (pictured at right) is seated in the Orange Section of the Amazon Room today. Somerville was involved in a four-way limped pot and the flop fell 765. A woman flipped two black 100 chips in the middle, Jason called and the others folded. The turn was the 3 and Somerville called a bet of 300. The river brought the 8 and the woman bet 600. Jason tossed a 1K chip in the middle for the call and the woman tabled 42.

“That’s like an eight card straight,” joked Somerville.

We know that an eight card straight is impossible, but we’ll let it slide Jason.

Other players seated in the Orange Section include Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy, Pat “TorontoToro” Pezzin, Allen “AawwNutz” Carter and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

The Red Section is being used on this jam-packed Day 1D. A floorman even hinted that cash games may be suspended for the entire day.
