Doubledave22 Doubles Up by Rachel on 07.04.09, 4:24 pm

David “doubledave22″ D’Alesandro’s (pictured right) Main Event is off to a terrific start. He doubled up within the first ten minutes of play.

D’Alesandro told us he raised to 250 under the gun with the blinds at 500/100 holding QT. It folded to the player in seat one, who threw one yellow chip into the pot with then intention of raising to 1K. However, he did not announce raise when he put the chip into the pot and it was ruled that he called. The two players saw a flop of J-8-9 with two clubs. D’Alesandro checked and seat one bet 500. D’Alesandro then raised to 1.7K and got a call. The turn was an offsuit ace. D’Alesandro led out for 2,750 and seat one raised to 10K. D’Alesandro then moved all in and the other player called and showed A-J for top two pair. The river was a 5 and just like that D’Alesandro has 60K and his opponent has the rest of the holiday off.

Clark “snake8484″ Hamagami won a much smaller pot one table over. Hamagami raised to 350 before the flop and was called by both the player on the button and the player in the big blind. All three players checked the Q32 on the flop as well as the J on the turn. The river was the T. The big blind checked and Hamagami bet 575. The button folded, but after thinking for a short time the big blind called. Hamagami showed KJ, which beat his opponent’s 10-8.

Later Hamagami was facing a big bet on the river. The board read 8544K and Hamagami’s opponent casually tossed an orange 5K chip in the pot. Clark studied his opponent carefully before finally releasing his hand.

Across the room, Shaun Deeb bet 1,350 on the turn with the board reading K52A. His opponent in seat three then raised to 3.2K Deeb made the call pretty quickly. The river was the A. Deeb check and, after a pause, the other player did as well. Deeb showed 55 and scooped the pot. At last tweet, Deeb is already up to 50K.

Nick “fu_15″ Maimone raised to 300 at his table and he was called by the player in seat three and seat six as well as the big blind. The flop was 855. The big blind checked, Maimone bet 900, seat three called, seat six called and the big blind folded. The turn was the 2. Maimone bet 1.2K and both remaining players called again. The river was the T. Maimone checked and the player in seat three checked as well. Seat six then bet 6K and after a lot of thought and many painful expressions Maimone laid down his hand. The player in seat three eventually did make the call and showed 77 to beat the other player’s busted diamond draw of Q2. Maimone told the table he folded pocket jacks because he had a player to act behind him, although he thought the player in seat six had a busted flush draw.

There aren’t many P5ers seated in the Orange section of the Amazon Room but Randy “Randers” Haddox and Aurangzeb “Ozzy87″ Sheikh (pictured left) found themselves seated together at Table 77. Sheikh appears to be willing to play big pots early and took a sizable hit to his stack in the first level. On a flop of 642 a player led out for 2K and Sheikh called. The turn brought the 8 and his opponent bet 6K. Sheikh quickly called. The 5 fell on the river and again the player bet 6K. Sheikh took a couple minutes before laying his hand down, leaving himself with around 21K of his original starting stack.

Jerry “herschelw” Watterson is also in the Orange section at a table with Raymond Davis and Hoyt Corkins, both seated to his right. Watterson was able to win a nice pot early in the day. Corkins limped and Davis raised to 325. Watterson and the player on the button called and Corkins folded. The dealer rolled over the 943 flop and Davis and Watterson checked to the button, who bet 1K. David folded and Watterson check-raised to 2.7K. The button called and Watterson fired 3K on the 5 turn. His opponent folded and Watterson increased his stack to 35.5K

Other players seated in Orange are Jason “mkind0516″ Laso, Joe Sebok and Owen “ocrowe” Crowe.
