Double Or Bust by Court on 10.23.09, 5:01 pm

The first level of day 3 play at the Festa al Lago saw a lot of pots with all the chips in the middle and cards still to come. For David “DavidP18″ Peters (right), Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo and Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson the first level of the day was the last level of their tournament. All have been eliminated early on day 3.

Bonomo had a brutal day, running aces into kings early on where he flopped a king but then an ace hit on the turn. After that a shortstacked Bonomo was all in with jacks against the pocket sevens of Corwin Cole but a seven hit the board and instead of raking in a 150k chip pot Bonomo was sent to the sidelines.

Cole was involved in a large pot with current chip leader Jason “JCarver” Somerville. On the J62 flop Jason check called a 21,800 chip bet from Cole and both players then checked the 9 turn. On the Q river Somerville led out for 45k and Cole instantly made the call. Somerville had gotten there on the river pairing his AQ and leaving Cole frustrated as his AJ had gotten outrun on the river. Somerville added the chips to his growing stack and was over 800k by levels end.

Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little (left) was on the brink of elimination but has bounced back from under 15k to build his stack back up to around 100k. James “mig.com” Mackey is also around 100k after moving in to pick up the last pot of the level at his table. With about 22k in the pot Mackey was all in for 69,900 and the action was to Freddy Deeb. Freddy thought for a bit before folding his pocket nines face up.

After making a straight flush against Chino Rheem and getting paid off Scott “BigRiskky” Clements is up to around 350k. On the 6549Q board Scott bet 65k and after a lot of thought Chino made the call. Scott turned up his 87 for a flopped straight that turned into a straight flush.

Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy doubled up when his AJ made two pair on the flop. His double up was for 87,300 and came at the expense of Abe Mosseri who held pocket kings in the hand. Bax was up to 175k after the hand but lost some ground in a pot with Adam Geyer and is down to around 135k.

Steve “gboro780″ Gross got into a raising war on a Q84 flop when he led out for 10k. He was raised to 25k and Steve then put in another raise making it 26,700 more to his opponent. The other player announced 60k, making it an additional 33,300 back to Gross. Steve decided to give up on his hand, surrendering the pot after getting 4-bet.
