What a Difference a Day Makes by Jessica on 12.15.09, 8:30 pm

Vivek “psyduck” Rajkumar was one of the tournament’s late arrivals who did not show up to play until Day 2.
“It’s not because I am a degen though, “Rajkumar explained. He had some family obligations to take care of yesterday, so he waited until today to get over to the Bellagio and play. The former WPT winner is no worse for the wear—he has already chipped up to 260K by the end of the second level. Others who have shown up in the past couple of hours include Andy Bloch and this tournament’s namesake, Doyle Brunson. With one level to go before registration closes for the day, the field is up to 324 players, but there will inevitably be a few players who sign up at the last possible minute.

While some have been showing up, others have been shipping out, including 2009 WSOP Main Event winner Joe “jcada99” Cada (pictured right), Adam “Roothlus” Levy and Nick “agriffrod” Mitchell. Levy fell at the hands of roommate Amit “amak316” Makhija while Cada was the victim of Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer, who Tweeted what happened:

“just busted Joe cada for his last 16bb. My aq>99. I’ve got 150K or so now.”

David “DocSands” Sands spent the level chipping up as well. We watched as his preflop aggression helped to take down a decent little pot without a showdown.  A player raised in early position with the blinds at 500/1,000 ante and the player in the small blind reraised him. Sands was in the big blind and made it 24,700 to go. The initial raiser folded and the small blind tanked for a minute, counted his stack and eventually threw his cards in as well.

Scott “Dorin Vandy” Dorin and Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers clashed in a blind versus blind confrontation towards the end of the level. Sowers raised to 2,600 from the small blind and Dorin called from the big. The flop fell {K}JTand Sowers led out for 1,600. Dorin called and the two saw the turn come 8. Sowers bet out again, this time for 4,700. Dorin once again called and they were off to the river. Both players checked when the T paired the board. Sowers showed Q8 for tens and eights and Dorin mucked.
