Play has just gotten underway in day two of the $1.5K NLHE event. Darryll “DFish” Fish (pictured at left) had been in his seat in the Brasillia Room for just a few minutes when he raised to 3K before the flop in first position with the blinds at 600/1200 with an ante of 100. The player in short-stacked player in seat then moved all in before the player in seat nine went into the tank, or so the table thought. After a few minutes of thought it became apparent that she wasn’t aware it was her turn. She was informed of this fact and quickly folded, apologizing multiple times to the amused and not at all upset table. It then folded back around to Fish, who instantly called and flipped over A

and Fish eliminated the other player, chipping up to about 36K in the process.
Mohsin “chicagocards1” Charania, who started the day as chip leader with 144K, has taken a couple of early hits. He said he held kings in an all-in pot against a shorter stack’s queens and a queen came on the board and later he flopped two pair with his A-J, only to be beaten when the other player turned a set of eights. He now has about 100K.
Grant “drossxyu” Hinkle also gave up some chips during the first level of play. The player in seat nine raised to 3.1K pre-flop and Hinkle re-raised to 8.5K from the small blind. The other player moved all in for 12.9K more and Hinkle made the call with his K

WSOP 2009 Event #41: $5K NLHE Shootout
The first two levels of the Shootout have drawn to a close and our player pool appears to sit at 280. The total numbers aren’t official yet and we won’t know exactly where the numbers stand until all of the unattended stacks that have been blinded off the past two hours are pulled from the table. What we can tell is that some players are off to fast starts and we have several P5ers sitting with nearly triple their 15K starting stack two hours in.
Lex “RaSZi” Veldhuis has been putting his big stack to use. We watched as he and Owen “ocrowe” Crowe (pictured right) battled in a hand in which the board read T

. We missed pieces of the action, but it appeared as if Owen bet the flop and Lex raised him. Crowe checked the turn and Veldhuis very quickly announced all-in. Veldhuis’ 40K stack had Crowe’s remaining 15K or so easily covered. Owen thought for a while, debating whether or not to call Lex’s substantial overbet of the pot, before folding.
Veldhuis is up to just over 40K. Some other P5ers with big stacks are Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail (50K), Shannon Shorr (50K), Scott “gunning4you” Seiver (48K), Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis (45K), and Matt “ch0ppy” Kay (45K).
They may not be sitting with 50K, but some other players took down some nice pots during Level Two to keep building their stacks. We watched as a player raised to 800 with the blinds at 150/300 and Aaron Been called from the cutoff. The other player led for 500 on the 7

flop and Been called. The turn was the 2
and Been’s opponent fired out 1K, which Been also called. The K
on the river prompted a 2K from the intial raiser and Been called a third time, tabling pocket nines. The other player showed 7-8 and Been took down the pot to build his stack up to 21K.
David “Bakes” Baker got the best of recent WSOP bracelet winner Greg “FBT” Mueller in a hand shortly before break. Mueller had limped in for 300 and called Baker’s raise to 1.3K total. The flop came down A

and Mueller checked to Baker, who bet around 2.4K. Mueller called and the two saw the turn come 6
. Greg checked again and David fired out 4.5K. Mueller thought for a couple of minutes before flashing the A
and folding.
