DFish Gets Chopped by Rich on 06.15.09, 8:07 pm

The blinds had just been raised to 1K/2K in Event #30 $2.5K PLO when Daniel Studer raised to 6K from under the gun. Darryll “DFish” Fish (pictured right) was next to act, and went deep into the tank. Fish counted out twenty yellow 1K chips in stacks of five. He shuffled them into two stacks of ten and then back into the original stack of twenty. Darryll added four more chips, and pushed 24K into the middle. Action folded to Andy Bloch on the button, who raised all in without hesitation. The blinds folded, and both Studer and Fish called all-in. The three hands were tabled:

Studer: AA82
Fish: KKQJ
Bloch: AA75

The flop fell 932, giving Fish the only flush draw and Bloch a gutshot straight draw. Darryll missed his flush on the turn, but picked up an inside straight draw with the 8. Bloch added a diamond draw and a gutshot as well. The 9 on the river did not improve Fish, and his stack was chopped by Bloch and Studer who both made aces and nines with an eight.

Rami “arbianight” Boukai is healthy with close to 100K at a nearby table, and Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron is alive and well with over 90K.

WSOP 2009 Event #32: $2K NLHE

Carter “ckingusc” King was moved to Peter “breeth” Turmezey’s table in the past hour and the two went to battle right away. With the blinds at 100/200 Turmezey raised preflop and King called out of the small blind. The flop brought 942 and King check-called a bet of 725. Thing slowed down as the Q fell on the turn and both players checked. King then fired 1,250 on the T river and Turmezey though carefully before calling. King showed JJ and Turmezey flashed A-K before sending it to the muck. The pot chipped king up to 17K while Turmezey is at 12K.

Andy “BKiCe” Seth continues to play solid poker. We caught up with him in the middle of a hand in the Orange Section of the Amazon Room. The board read AT48, and Seth had just been check min-raised by an opponent in the small blind. Andy tanked for quite some time, but we are accustomed to this after his fifteen minute hand during his final table run in Event #24. He finally folded and his opponent tabled his cards showing J9 for a made flush and a redraw to a straight flush. Seth wrapped the table emphatically, pleased that he made the right decision.

Peter “Nordberg” Feldman eliminated a player just minutes ago. He called a player’s all in bet on a T342 board and needed some help with his A3 against AT. A beautiful K landed on the river and Feldman chipped up to 14.5K before the second break of the day.

Andy “BadgerPro” Schultz was one of many players kocked out of the tournament during Level 4. Schultz moved all in with Q9 on a 9-7-6-3 board and was called by a player with K-8. His opponent made a straight with a Ten on the river. Devin “tranquilchaos” Porter was also sent packing.

Frank “Frank1The1Tank” Calo was crippled after losing a 9K pot with AK against AQ all-in preflop. He was left with 1.2K but doubled quickly with AJ against AK on a T-T-5-6-J board.

WSOP 2009 Event #28: $1.5K NLHE

After running horribly late yesterday, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson’s luck didn’t take a turn for the better during Day 3 of the $1.5K NLHE event. Johnson, pictured left, was eliminated in 19th place for $18,688 when he re-shoved over an under-the-gun raise for 400K with AQ and got called by KJ. The Q444 board looked promising for Johnson but his opponent hit the K on the river to win a sizable pot. Jake “TheMuffin” Solis was taken down in 13th place after losing a race with K-Q to pocket jacks, earning $38,133 for his three days of work. Jason “JPOSU Potter is still going strong, sitting third in chips with over 1.4 million as the final table approaches.
