Maria “Maridu” Mayrick and Steven “stevie444″ Chidwick joined Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet’s rail late this evening and Mayrinck informed us that Van Fleet was destined to win the $3K Triple-Chance NLHE Event. Unfortunately it was not meant to be as Van Fleet was eliminated in 22nd place by fellow P5er Jason “TheMasterJ33″ DeWitt (pictured left).

. Anticipation built as the flop rolled out Q97, adding four more outs for DeWitt. The 8 on the turn was no help, but a painful T on the river ended Van Fleet’s run, sending him home with $14,967.
DeWitt is the chip leader going into Day 3 with 1.59 million. Three other P5ers are in contention with 16 players remaining: Michael “Bonzo9876″ Katz (356K), Jason “JCarver” Somerville (356K) and Eric “Rizen” Lynch. WSOP 2009 Event #53: $1.5K Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo
Zak “traction” Gilbert (pictured right) will return for Day 3 of the $1.5K Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better tournament. Play was halted at 3 a.m. with 14 players remaining with Gilbert working with the shortest stack in the room. He’ll have a lot of work to do when play resumes at 2:00 p.m. in order to reach his first ever WSOP final table. Other notables still alive include chip leader Chad Brown, Allie Prescott and tournament director extraordinare Matt Savage. Tuesday’s winner will collect $159,390.
