Nine total levels of poker at the World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair have been completed. Of the 334 entrants only 105 remain with 219 players having already been eliminated from the tournament. That is almost 25 players per level being eliminated from the tournament. More impressively, the current average stack is 95,000 chips and players just finished the 500 / 1,000 with a 100 ante level and are going into the 600 / 1,200 200 ante level. Right before the blinds went up the average stack in the tournament was 95 big blinds deep and with the increase in blinds the average stack now represents almost 80 big blinds - and that isn’t for the deeper stacked players but for the average stacks.
The shortened schedule today makes the upcoming 600 / 1,200 200 ante level the last of the night. The remaining players will return at noon tomorrow to play a full day of 6 scheduled levels.
Jason “JCarver” Sommerville (right) was eliminated when his pocket deuces ran into the pocket jacks of John Monnette. Sommerville had been working with a serious short stack, starting the previous level with only 11k after grinding most of the day with only a pittance of chips.
For Yevgeniy “Atimos” Timoshenko and Nadeem “Deemer6″ Riaz the last level was a good one. Timoshenko flopped a set of tens on a K-T-9 board and was able to double up against a player with KJ. After winning the pot Yevgeniy is up to a healthy 130k.
Riaz (left) has 135k after winning a big coinflip with his pocket queens against another players AK. Both go into the final level of the day with about 50% more in chips than the average stack, putting them in great shape for day 3 play barring a late day disaster.
Annette “Annette_15″ Obrestad and Mohsin “ChicagoCards1″ Charania are both right around average with Annette holding 83k and Mohsin up to 90k after doubling up.
