Shaun Deeb and Isaac Haxton (pictured at left) both ran into huge hands in the first level of the $1.5K that just started at the Rio, but both managed to survive.
Deeb checked the turn with the board reading A

J
and the player in seat four bet 550. The player in seat nine called, as did Deeb. The river was the 5
. Deeb checked again and seat four bet 1,050. Seat nine then moved all in for 2,525. Deeb shook his head and thought for a minute before making the call. The action was back on seat four, who then moved all in. He had Deeb covered.
“I just have tens full,” Deeb said, eventually folding J
T
face up. Seat four turned over K
Q
while seat nine tabled A
A
. Deeb was down 1,025 after the hand and a little annoyed he didn’t call to win a side pot with the player in seat four. With the blinds still at 25/50, though, Deeb has some chips and some time. Theo “pittrounder” Tran is also at Deeb’s table.
We caught Haxton on the other side of the Amazon Room making a bet of 1,250 on the river with the board reading J
T

Q
. The player in seat two moved all in for 2,325 more. Haxton had the man covered and made the call. His opponent showed Q

.
“That is a straight flush,” Haxton said nonchalantly as he mucked his hand. He looked to still have about 2K in front of him after the loss.
Jeff “jeffboski” Sluzinski (pictured at right) played a less dramatic hand. He and another player checked a flop of J
T
7
and saw the 2
on the turn. The player in seat eight bet 50 and Sluzinski raised to 150.
“Deuce,” Sluzinski said, before changing his mind and saying his opponent might have a deuce in his hand. Still, the 2

Sluzinski told the other player he was value betting and put out 200. Seat eight called and Sluzinski turned over Q
T
to take the pot.
We spotted Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi in the field, but when we ventured back to his table both he and his chips appeared to be gone. We’ll see if he turns back up, but it might have been an early day for Mizzi.
Other players we’ve spotted in the field include Ryan “ryanghall” Hall, who said he has been fighting illness all night, as well as Jack “doctor_fun” Powell, Aaron “NDGrinder59″ Steury and Amit “amak316″ Makhija.
