Deeb Chipping Up Early by Rachel on 07.04.09, 5:39 pm

Shaun Deeb is off to a fast start here on Day 1B. A player raised to 350 from early position with the blinds at 50/100 and Deeb called in the hi-jack position. The cutoff called, the blinds folded and the three took a flop of K42. The original raiser led out for 700, Deeb called and the cutoff folded. The dealer burned and turned the 5. The original raiser led again for 1.8K, but this time Shaun put in a raise to 5.3K. Deeb’s opponent mulled the decision over before eventually releasing his hand. Shaun tabled the 2 and raked in the pot. After two hours of play, Deeb is sitting comfortably with 54K.

On the last hand before break, Jeff “YoungSupremacy” Hakim, Walter “JLizard” Wright and a third player saw a 662 flop. Hakim checked to the player in the big blind who bet 700. Wright called and Hakim folded. The big blind checked the 4 on the turn and Wright announced, “Thirteen hundred.” Walter splashed two yellow 1K chips into the pot. His opponent slowly called and the dealer delivered the K on the river. The big blind checked and Walter silently flipped two more yellow chips in the pot. Wright’s opponent folded, giving him the pot. Walter’s break was cut short, but that pot brought him back up to the 30K starting stack.

A little earlier Wright called the small blind’s raise to 250 from the big blind and saw a flop of K76. The small blind bet 300 and Wright called. The turn was the Q. The small blind bet 450 this time and Wright made the call. The river was the Q. The small blind checked and Wright bet 1.1K. His opponent folded and Wright won the pot.

David “darkhelmet13″ Lee put in 300 chips before the flop (we’re not sure who did the raising) to see a flop of K97. It was checked to Lee. He bet 625 and the player in seat six called. The turn was the T. Seat six checked and Lee bet 1.1K. The other player called and the river was the A. Seat six checked again and Lee bet 1.6K. This time seat six folded and Lee took the pot.

We’re not sure what the action was but we do know Joep “Pappa Ruek” van den Bijgaary was on the button and that he and both blinds but in 950 before the flop with the blinds at 50/100. The flop was A96. Both blinds checked and van den Bijgaary bet 1,675. The other players laid down their hands and he scooped the pot.

The field today lacking in numbers in both online and big-name poker stars. It seems that the majority have decided to take the holiday off, but Johanthan “driverseati” Tamayo recently arrived at his seat to find both Juha Helppi and Todd Brunson at his table.

Tamayo and the rest of the players have just returned from their first 20-minute break of the day with increased blinds of 100/200.
