One of the tournament director’s predicted 140 players would make it through the day. “Do I get promoted to Legend status,” he asked with the board showing 153 remaining players and a little over 40 minutes left in the day. His estimate was much lower than most people thought would be the actual number, with 376 starting the day and everyone having started with 45,000 chips at the beginning of the tournament.
He has a chance of hitting the number dead on, and the field could potentially get under the 140 mark by a table or more if the pace of eliminations stays brisk for the last half level of play. Jon “PearlJammer” Turner and Barry “Barryg1″ Greenstein have made the most of the day, both building their stacks to over 250k.
Turner was able to pick up a few more chips when he called a 5,200 opening raise from the small blind (blinds of 1k / 2k with a 300 ante). On the A
J
7
flop both players checked and with the 6
turn Jon bet 7,500 and was called. On the 2
river Turner again led out, this time for 21k. After taking a long time his opponent pushed one card in to the dealer and then slowly the other surrendering the pot to Turner and pushing him over the 250k mark.
Haffa “Hafizzle” Khan was able to add a few chips as well with a bet of 19,500 on a flop of A
K
9
. Eli Elezra asked Kahn a couple of questions, but finally decided Haffa looked too comfortable and Eli threw his hand away.
Once play is complete full end of day chip counts will be available.
