Day 2 play at the Bellagio came to a close with each table playing out 6 more hands. The action was paused with about 20 minutes left on the clock and the random draw came out with a 6 so each table finished up that amount of hands before the players bagged their chips for the night.
Everyone will return tomorrow at noon for day 3 play, with roughly 165 players making it through the day. Justin Young jumped to an early lead today and stayed at or near the top throughout. Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier (right) is having another strong showing at the Bellagio as well and was over 600k as the day wound down. Those two will be among the leaders going into day 3, with a whole slew of players in the 400k+ range.
In that 400k+ range is Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke, who picked up some chips late when his pocket tens were able to crack aces. Jimmy called the all in preflop for a total of around 90k and was up against aces but his T
was good enough to pair with the four clubs that hit the board to give him a flush and a nice pot late in the day.
Jared “SoxNation83″ Mahoney was check raised out of a large pot, but left himself with around 150k. After a player had opened for 6,500 Mahoney raised to 21,000 from the button and the player in the small blind called. The initial raiser folded his hand and the flop came J
T
3
. The action was checked to Mahoney who bet 31k and the other player quickly said all in and moved his 200k chips into the middle covering Mahoney’s remaining stack. Jared took a moment but ultimately folded his hand and surrendered the pot.
Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy (left) was a late day elimination, losing a flip to JC Tran. Tran had AK and when Bax moved in over the top of his opening raise Tran quickly called and was able to spike an ace on the turn to overcome Cliff’s pocket eights and eliminate him from the tourney. Other eliminations from the tournament today include Louis “MrBeeks” Werman, Isaac “Mr. Menlo” Baron, Mike “SirWatts” Watson, Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, Steve “Thorladen” Weinstein, Scott “R_A_Y” Montgomery, and Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi.
Table 63 started with 5 PocketFivers at the table and all 5 made it through the day. Fricke, Matt “Mattg1983″ Graham, Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg, Mohsin “ChicagoCards1″ Charania and Shaun Deeb will all be back for day 3 play.
The first blind level of the day tomorrow will be 1,200 / 2,400 with a 300 chip ante and an average chip stack size of just over 200k. Full chip counts and day 3 seating assignments will be available later tonight.
