The last hand of the day was worth $15,000 in cash to Isaac “Mr. Menlo” Baron. He was able to eliminate Chris Ferguson and pick up a 5k bounty and also build his stack to 153,700 which was enough to put him past Vivek “Psyduck” Rajkumar in the chip counts and give him the $10,000 prize for being the end of day chip leader. Everyone’s chips have to be counted and verified, but Matt Savage checked all the large stacks in the room and none could top Baron’s 153k.
Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson and Dan “Wretchy” Martin (left) were both able to get end of day double ups to give them more ammunition to work with going into day 2 play. Peter “Nordberg” Feldman joined a growing list of eliminated players that now includes Brent “Bhanks” Hanks, Jason “JCarver” Somerville, Bryan “bparis” Paris and Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter.
On the last hand of the day at his table, Baron had a short stacked Ferguson all in with his AJ dominating the AT for Ferguson. The flop came jack high giving Isaac a near lock on the hand and after the turn Ferguson was drawing dead. Isaac picked up $5k in cash on the spot and a signed t-shirt from Ferguson. His $10k prize will come after all the chip counts have been completed to make sure Isaac is the end of day chip leader.
Dan “Wretchy” Martin moved his short stack of less than 13k all in over the top of an opening raise of 1,800 and was able to pick up a few chips, and then his pocket kings held up in an all in against Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire with pocket tens to double him up again to put him over 27k and take a 13k chunk out of Devo’s stack.
Marco was able to double up when he and another player got all in on the turn of a board showing 9
6
3
9
. Marco had the K
9
and was up against his opponent’s 8
7
for an open ended straight draw. Marco filled up with the K
on the river and once his chips were counted he was due the 19,900 he had in front of him plus the pot, putting him in the 50k range near the end of the day.
Feldman (right) was all in for his last 8,600 and another player moved all in over the top of Feldman’s bet, isolating him and leaving the two heads up all in preflop. Peter had the K
2
and was live against the A
9
his opponent held, but a board of 7-7-6-5-9 was no held and Feldman was eliminated late in the day.
Full end of day chip counts will be available shortly.
