Players are falling fast over at the $2.5K six-max limit hold’em event. Three players were eliminated in the first half hour of play, leaving eight men to battle for the bracelet. P5ers Shawn “sbuck21” Buchanan and Brock “t soprano” Parker are still alive.
Buchanan (pictured left) won a big pot early on and now has around to 200K in chips. He raised before the flop and was called by the player on the button with the blinds at 4K/8K and limits of 8K/16K. The flop was 8

Parker had close to 300K in chips at last check. There are currently two tables of four players and they will continue playing until a winner is determined at some point this evening.
WSOP 2009 Event #13: $2K NLHE
Two players have been eliminated so far, one at the hands of Keven “Stammdogg” Stammen. A short-stacked player moved all in from under the gun and Stammen called with A-J, having his opponent’s Q-2 in bad shape. Stammen’s hand held up and he is close to 800K in chips, still near the top of the leaderboard.
Brett “threatnasty” Switzer and Garrett “GBecks” Beckman are still going strong as we’ve merged into the final two tables.

WSOP 2009 Event #17: $1K Ladies Event
As we mentioned earlier, our very own PocketFivesLive team member Jessica “doomswitch83″ Welman is playing the $1K ladies event today. She told us that she re-raised with pocket kings in one hand and was called by a woman who had yet to voluntarily put a chip in the pot in their 30 minutes together at the table. The flop came A-Q-10. Welman checked and the other women bet, forcing Jess to reluctantly fold her kings early on. She has about 2K of her starting 3K stack left.
We’ve also spotted P5ers Maria “maridu” Mayrinck and Amanda “blondechick20” Leatherman in the field as well as Erica Schoenberg and Liv Boeree. There are currently 1,062 entrants in the tournament.
