Usually when a tournament gets down to just two tables the pace slows and the bustouts come few and far between. It only took one level of play today to get from 24 down to 18 and the final two tables, and after a brief slowdown once play went to two tables the pace has picked up and in the two levels that have been played since getting down to two tables 7 players have been eliminated, leaving the field 11 handed spread over two tables.
With the next elimination the final ten will be seated at one table and continue to play down to the final 6 who will return tomorrow to take their spots on the stage of the WPT televised final table.
Stan Jablonski was eliminated in 15th place by Prahlad Friedman when his A3 ran into Prahlad’s AQ. Friedman did more of the dirty work, busting Thu Nguyen in 14th place when the two were all in preflop with Prahlad holding pocket kings and Nguyen with only KQ. Sam Stein was able to flop a set of deuces against Eugene Katchalov’s pocket sevens to send Eugene to the rail in 13th. 13th through 15th all earned $26,160.
Eric Hershler became the 12th place finisher when Stein hit his straight on the river to overcome Hershler’s two pair. The 12th place finish was a pay jump and Eric will get $32,700.
Earlier in the day Mike Krescanko doubled through James “mig.com” Mackey and then Mackey was able to recover. Well, after building back up Mackey again had Krescanko all in. This time Mackey had pocket sevens against the KQ of Krescanko, but with a Q on the river Mike was able to double through Mackey yet again leaving James with just over 300k.
