Chips Ahoy

All of the resepctive events (save for the Triple Draw) have left and returned from their respective dinner breaks and the fields have thinned out a little since we last checked in with you. The $1.5K NLHE tournament that started today is down to 921 players, including Alex “Kadabra” Keating (pictured left). We missed the hand, but Alex explained to us how a player at one of his tables literally gifted him with a double up. Keating explained that he called a raise with 3
4 and he and the initial raiser went heads-up to the flop. The flop came A-5-2 giving Alex the wheel. After a bet by Keating and a call from his opponent on the flop, the turn was a 3 and through a series of bets and raises Alex ended up all-in with the other player having him covered. Keating told us the other player announced, “I don’t believe you, I call.” Once Keating showed his hand the other player mucked his cards before the river was even dealt. Unfortunately for that player, the river was a 4, putting a straight on the board. However, because the player mucked his cards the entirety of the pot went to Alex, who is now up to 45K.
