After a long and hard fought battle heads-up Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger finally prevailed and advanced to Day Two. With the blinds at 800/1,600 ante 200, Andrew raised to 4K from the button and his opponent moved all-in for his last 30K or so. Andrew double checked his hole cards before calling with 99. His opponent showed J8. The board ran out T8262 and the nines held to give Lichtenberger the win.

While Lichtenberger may be done for the day, Scott “r_a_y” Montgomery still has work to do before he can put his shootout table to bed. When we last checked in on him he was sitting with around 95K, but it seems as though this match could keep on going for a while longer.

WSOP 2009 Event #39: $1.5K NLHE

None of our online stars were involved in major action during the past level of the $1.5K NLHE event. Short stacks Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania and Alex Jacob have been shoving and picking up blinds and antes to stay afloat while Shawn “sprstoner” Glines continues to use his big stack to harass everyone at his table. Players have gone on a 30 minute break to color up chips.

WSOP 2009 Event #42: $2.5K Mixed Events

Players are on a 60-minute dinner break in the $2.5K Mixed Games event and 335 of the 412 players are still in the field. Among those we lost in the past level were Shannon Shorr and Phil “USCPhildo” Collins, both of whom made their exit in the PLO round. Shorr got his remaining chips in with TT99 against Michael Mizrachi’s KQQ6 and couldn’t improve when the board ran out A549Q. Collins was eliminated when his J-T-9-8 lost to K-K-J-2 after his opponent made a higher straight.
