Caught, Phan Calls Makhijas Bluff by Court on 08.29.08, 3:05 am

After seeing Amit “Amak316″ Makhija (right) get back to even, John Phan has again pulled ahead, jumping to almost 9 million chips after calling down a bluff from Makhija. Amit opened for 400k and Phan called to see the 985 flop. When it was checked to him Amit bet 600k and Phan called. With 2 on the river did not result in any betting, but with the 6 on the river Phan again checked to Amit and Makhija bet 1.5 million.

After tanking for a while (not all that long for Phan actually) John made the call. Makhija had to show the T2 for a pair of deuces, but more of a bluff betting that Phan did not have a club big enough to call. Phan did have a club for the flush, and had made the call with the J9.

After picking off the bluff Phan has a 6 million chip lead over Amit, with the counts being roughly 8,500,000 to 2,500,000. Amit was able to mount a comeback earlier, and will be looking to do so again, this time pushing past even and on to a title.
