“All In and a Call!”

The eliminations are becoming frequent as we approach the end of the day. Several P5ers have hit the rail as the blinds and antes have increased to 200/400/50 here in Level 5. Scott “BigRiskky” Clements, Alex “EC10″ Venovsky, Ben “Shankingyou” Palmer, Scott “emptyseat88″ Fischman, Brent “Astrolux85″ Roberts and two-time bracelet winner Brock t_soprano” Parker are all out. Some, like Jason “jdpc27″ Wheeler, are barely hanging on.
Wheeler (pictured right) was in decent shape until he ran into a sticky spot moments ago. On a Q

9 board, Wheeler bet 2.8K and a player raised to 10.4K. Wheeler called. The turn was the J and both players checked. Wheeler fired 7.5K when the 3
hit the river and his opponent snap-called:

Wheeler’s set of nines was trumped by a higher set of tens and he was left with just 8K. The 20 big blinds might seem like plenty to work with until you compare his stack with some around the room. We’re hoping Jason at least reaches Day 2b.
Before the last break Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz doubled his stack again. Schwartz got it all in on a 983 board holding 88. His opponent tabled JJ and did not improve when the board ran 7, 9. Noah was once down below 10K but now is now back over the starting stack with 38K to his name.
We found Bryan “bparis” Paris in the Red Section of the Amazon Room. Paris has been hiding from us all day and we were pleased to see that he was present and accounted for. He gave us a little scare though a few moments ago. We came back to check up on him and his seat was empty at the table. All that was left was a coffee cup, there were no chips on the table. Luckily when we closed in on the table we saw that the cup was blocking Paris’ chips and that Bryan was doing a little stretching a few tables away.
Bryan’s stack did take a little hit though as he lost a pot with AK against an opponent’s AQ to drop to 37K.
We also somehow managed to miss Faraz “The-Toilet” Jaka sitting at the same table as Ken “wandigo” Coppens all day. We thought that Jaka had recently been moved to the table when we spotted him, but Jaka assured us that he and Coppens (pictured left) have been together all day…literally. The two of them are roommates and even road to the Rio together this morning before sitting down and the same table to play for seven hours or so at this point. Neither has more than chip than he started with, Jaka currently has about 26.5K while Coppens has about 20K.
Coppens lost some chips to Cyndy Violette recently. Violette checked to him after a flop of AK9 and Coppens bet 2.3K. Violette than raised to 5K and Coppens made the call. Both player then check the 5 on the turn as well as the 8 on the river. Coppens turned over the A but showed down an inferior kicker of the 3 when Violette tabled AJ.
James “mig.com” Mackey is another player whose stack slipped in the past hour. Mackey checked on the river with the board reading 7432A. The player on the button bet 10K, which was about half the size of the pot, and Mackey spent a few minutes contemplating his options. He eventually tossed in a call and his opponent showed A7 for a rivered two pair. The usually stoic Mackey slapped his hand on the table and looked at his opponent in disbelief before mucking his hand.
Jeff “crzysavage” Gressard, who fought a short stack all day one table over from Coppens and Jaka, has been eliminated. He was all in for about 6K with KJ against another player’s 77. The board ran out Q834T and Gressard’s day was over.
Shane “Shaniac” Schleger ended the day of another player. Schleger called another player’s all in after raising before the flop with AK. His opponent held QQ but the board ran out AT724. Schleger now has about 50K.
