“I’ll Buy You a Beer” by Rachel on 06.17.09, 3:37 am

Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin (pictured left) owes the man formerly sitting to his left a beer.

We walked up after the river had been dealt. The board read J8442. Baldwin laid out a big stack of yellow and blue chips that looked to add up to about 20K. The other player thought for a minute before moving all in. Baldwin quickly called.

“You don’t have quads do you?” he asked, flipping up his JJ for trip jacks.

“Oh, sorry,” he said as soon as he saw the 88 of his opponent.

Acknowledging the cooler he shook the player’s hand and said, “I’ll buy you a beer sometime, bro.”

After the win, Baldwin is now up to almost 100K in chips.

David “The Maven” Chicotsky is at it again. This time we caught him red handed, calling an opponent’s all-in with AT. His opponent held JJ, but in Chicotsky’s defense, he only had five big blinds. The KQx4 flop brought a flush draw and The Maven got there when the 7 spiked on the river. “You’ve been behind every time,” quipped the player he busted. Chicotsky defended his reasoning behind the call while stacking his newfound chips. “I’m calling there every time,” he said. David seems to be getting there every time too.

Apparently getting it in behind is becoming an EV+ trend for P5ers. On a nearby table, James “mig.com” Mackey (picture right) called a players 9.4K all-in bet with QT, and was dominated by AQ. Mackey flopped a double-gutter when 986 hit the felt. The 3 on the turn didn’t change anything, but the J on the river gave James the winning straight and sent his short stacked opponent to the rail. Brent “bhanks11″ Hanks, who is also seated at Mackey’s table, couldn’t help but comment on the hand. “So you just flop eight extra outs huh?” he asked the silent winner. “That’s how you do it?”

We caught Yevegeniy “atimos” Timoshenko talking to a friend at a table other than the one he had been playing at a short time ago. Another player asked if he had gone bust, and Timoshenko confirmed that he had.

Other chip counts:

Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby - 52K
Jeremiah “Believer82″ Vinsant - 42K
Brent “BHanks11″ Hanks - 28K
Amanda “Mandy B” Baker - 11K

WSOP 2009 Event #32 $2K NLHE

Eric “whitE_mAmbA” Ladny has quieted a bit since his monumental suck-out. Having Michael Binger to his left must be no fun. Regardless, Ladny is still the chip leader with over 500K in front of him.

Peter “Nordberg” Feldman remains active. With the board reading K6429, Feldman bet 55K when checked to. His opponent tanked for a bit then made the call. Peter tabled KT, and his opponent mucked. Last we checked, Feldman was up to 330K.
