After letting Jon Jaffe control the action for the first couple hours of play Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little changed gears and started getting involved in some pots. After a brief break for the players they were back in action and Little opened a pot to 125k. Matusow came over the top for just under 1 million chips and the action folded to Little.
He thought for a while, finally turning over his 9
9
as he said “I call.” Matusow turned to a group of fans behind him saying “my lucky hand” as he showed them and then tabled the A
J
. This time it was not so lucky for Mike though. The board came out with no help for Matusow and he found himself sidelined in 6th place for $124,048.
Little (left), after picking up a few pots and then eliminating Matusow, has jumped up to second in chips after dropping to the bottom of the counts earlier. Jon Jaffe has been able to get all the chips he lost in the two double ups back, plus a little more and holds a solid chip lead on the field.
After Matusow’s bust the chip counts looked something like this:
Jon Jaffe - 5 million
Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little - 3.8 million
Jack Schanbacher - 1.5 million
Charles Marchese - 1.2 million
David Pham - 900k
Then, in a hand that almost ended up as a 3 way all in, Little was able to eliminate Jack Schanbacher while also taking a chunk out of David Pham. Schanbacher moved all in for 800k and Pham just called. Jon Little then moved all in over the top and Pham went into the tank. With almost half his stack in the middle he was getting very good odds on the call, but Pham made the decision to let his hand go and fight another battle. Jon Little showed pocket queens and his pair held up against Jack’s 9
8
to take the pot and bust Schanbacher (right) in 5th place for $182,196.
After that hand Little jumped to over 5.5 million and the chip lead with Jon Jaffe in second place.
