Bubble Bursts in $1.5K by Jessica on 06.28.09, 8:36 pm

It didn’t take long after the money bubble burst in the $1.5K NLHE event before players started dropping like flies. They hit the money at 296 players and an hour later they are down to right at 200 left. While Jason Gray and Grant “drossxyu” Hinkle appear to be MIA, other players have spent the past hour adding to their stacks.

Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh (pictured right) continued to terrorize his table. We watched as a player made what appeared to be a 20K bet into an even larger pot with the board reading T9874. Cody thought a little while before verbally declaring “all-in” and pulling a stack of yellows off his mountain of chips. The other player, who appeared to have 75K or so behind, didn’t take long to fold. Slaubaugh raked the large pot and is nearing the 300K mark with 280K in chips.

Michael “Gags30″ Gagliano is also making headway. He is sitting with 115K. Michael “benvo123″ Benvenuti was sitting at around the same amount until he opened for a 5.2K raise with the blinds at 1K/2K ante 300 from the hijack and the player in the cutoff moved all-in for around 20K total. Benvenuti mulled over his options for a minute and then called with KJ. He was drawing slim against the other player’s KQ. Both players flopped gutshots on the AT8 board and Michael got there when the turn fell Q. The river was the 8 and the other player was sent to the rail while Benvenuti padded his stack up to 150K.

Here are some other chip counts we spotted as the field continues to dwindle under 200 players:

Josh “SDouble” Schlein - 125K
Owen “ocrowe” Crowe - 115K
Scott “dorinvandy” Dorin - 105K
Shaun “Cougars4444″ Hendrickson - 98K
Alex Jacob - 97K
Jason “JP OSU” Potter - 95K
Tom “titantom32″ Braband - 60K
Chris “herdgolf” Tipper - 35K
Jared “soxnation83″ Mahoney - 35K

WSOP 2009 Event #52: $3K Triple Chance NLHE

All of you Davidi “legrouzin” Kitai fans can wipe the sweat from your brow, we were wrong earlier when we thought he was bust-o. Not only is Kitai alive and well, he is above average with 15K in chips. Kitai and Scott “gunning4you” Seiver (pictured left) are seated next to each other in the triple chance event and, judging from the brief exchange we just saw, the two are enjoying a friendly rivalry. We watch as the pair tangled in a multi-way raised pot at the 100/200 blind level. Before the flop was dealt, Seiver informed the table he, “was going to bust three people on this hand.”

We’ll go ahead and let you know, he didnt.

Instead, it checked around on the flop and turn as the board ran out A76A and Seiver bet out 2.25K when the 4 fell on the river. Kitai raised to 5.5K total and Scott was a little flabbergasted.

“Davidi Kitai is the best player in the world. Do you all know that?,” Scott asked the table while he thought through the hand. “I need you to have one of four specific hands in order to have you beat. I need you to have 9T.”

Seiver thought for a minute or two longer before eventually mucking his hand and begging Kitai to show. Davidi obliged and turned up the A.

“That’s not enough!” Seiver exclaimed. Kitai then flipped over the A showing his quad aces and Seiver patted himself on the back, as he said he folded a club flush to him.
