The first hour of play went relatively well for Joe Sebok, Tyler “Brainwash” Cornell, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson and Mohsin “ChicagoCards1″ Charania but in the next 60 minutes of play the wheels fell off. Farzad Bonyadi did more than his share of the damage and now has over 1 million chips as a result. Play has quickly dropped down to the final 4 tables of 6 players each leaving only 24 entrants left in the 2009 Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament.
Bonyadi was able to take over the chip lead after winning a massive pot that eliminated Tyler Cornell (right) in 30th place. With 3- way action on the Q
3
3
flop Cornell bet 32k when it was checked to him. Both Matt Lessinger and Bonyadi called to see the 4
turn. The action again checked to Cornell who put out a bet of 74k. Lessinger decided it was time to let his hand go, leaving the action to Farzad. Bonyadi then moved all in having Tyler covered. A distraught Cornell thought for a few minutes, finally calling with his pocket aces only to see the flopped set of queens for Bonyadi. The river was the 4
and aces cracked sent Cornell to the rail in 30th place for $20,000.
Joe Sebok’s elimination in 25th place also came at the hands of Bonyadi. Sebok was in the mid to low 100k’s in chips and moved all in over top of a raise from Bonyadi. Farzad called, again having pocket queens and this time dominating the pocket nines for Sebok. Joe did not improve and Farzad picked up the $5k bounty for eliminating Sebok in 25th place with Joe gets the $20,000 payout and comes up short yet again at Bay 101 after getting close once again to a WPT final table.
For Marco Johnson (left) his elimination was as simple as him moving in with the K
Q
and having Dan O’Brien wake up behind him with the A
K
. The AK held for Dan and Marco’s 26th place finish brings a $20,000 payday. The short stack shove running into AK was the end of Mohsin Charania as well. Charania moved in for just under 9 big blinds and was called by Vitaly Yarkof with AK which held up to end Charania’s tournament in 27th place, also for $20,000.
Vivek “Psyduck” Rajkumar was all in early in the day for his last 48k with T-2 off suit, but after getting lucky to win that pot he has rallied and is over 200k in chips as play continues to work towards the final table. After Sebok’s elimination the only bounties remaining are Hoyt Corkins (who made an amazing comeback from a low of 6,500 chips yesterday) and Kathy Liebert.
