Bring on the Caffeine

Players returning for the $2K NLHE event were still attempting to wake up as they took their seats at Noon PT. Many were drinking coffee and a few had even cracked open a red bull. The biggest kickstart for everyone, however, was the elimination of the first player just five minutes into the day.
We’ve lost seven players in the first hour of action and all three remaining P5ers are still alive. Only Eric “white_mamba” Ladny (pictured right) has put his chips at risk so far. With blinds at 8K/16K and a 2K ante, a player raised to 41K from middle position and Ladny moved all in from the button for 256K more. Action folded back around to the original raiser, who sat back in his seat and contemplated a decision.
“I’m way ahead of your range,” he said after about a minute of silence. He eventually folded his 8

face up and attempted to get any information out of Ladny that he could. Eric obliged but kept it short: “We were flipping.”
Ladny is up to 380K at the end of the the first level of the day while Scott “stpauli111″ Hall sits with 715K and Jason “JAKoon1985″ Koon has 320K. We’re down to two tables as the final 18 prepare for a long day of poker.
WSOP 2009 Event #15: $5K NLHE
We’ve gotten a few chip counts from the first level of the $5K NLHE event. Each player started with 15K in chips:

Jamie “thecronic420″ Rosen was interrupted by the casino staff during play in the $5K and told he was given too much money for his 16th place finish in the $2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha event. Rosen was supposed to have received $10,293 but was given around $3,000 more than that. He was very understanding about the ordeal and gave the money back in casino chips.
