Tom “titantom” Braband (pictured left) is a force to be reckoned with in the Brasilia Room. Braband is sitting with an astounding 43K in front of him. The table is surely intimidated by the big stack, Tom opened three pots when we stopped to watch and took them all down without a single showdown.
Shaun “Cougars4444″ Hendrickson continues to chip up in his first tournament of this year’s WSOP. After being moved to the direct left of another big stack, Hendrickson jokingly asked him if he’d like to “flip for a huge stack” on the next hand. Little did he know that it would actually happen — only it wasn’t exactly a flip. With blinds at 100/200 action folded to the big stack in the small blind and he made it 600 to go. Hendrickson raised to 2.2K and the other player 4-bet to 6.6K. Hendrickson moved all in for 14.5K and was called by the small blind, who revealed pocket nines. Hendrickson tabled pocket kings, which held up to increase his stack to almost 30K.
Allen “albari” Bari took down consecutive pots at his table in the Brasilia Room. Bari picked off a small bluff on the river holding just a six on a 7

board, and then raised the very next hand to take it down with a bet on the turn. Allen is fresh off of his Razz final table and is looking for another deep run. He currently sits just below the average stack with 8K.
Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen wasn’t so fortunate as he was eliminated during Level 5. Two players limped into the pot and Hunichen raised to 1K in late position with A
Q
. One player called to see a flop of Q-7-7. The other player led out with a bet, Hunichen min-raised, and then all of the chips went in. Hunichen’s opponent had pocket sevens, giving him a flopped full house, and Chris was unable to improve on the turn and river to lose a 26K pot.
Dave “doubledave22″ D’Alesandro was also sent packing. A player in middle position opened to 850 and D’Alesandro moved all on for 3500 total with pocket jacks. His opponent called with A
9
and was able to get the best of Dave when the board ran out 9

WSOP 2009 Event #50 $1.5K LHE SHOOTOUT
There have been a few eliminations in the second round of Event #50, but for the most part the play has been slow and steady.
Table 244:
Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan, pictured left, showed more emotion than we had ever seen from him when we checked in on Event #50. He was flushed with anger after receiving a penalty for checking his phone at the table. According to Buchanan all he did was lean back and look at the display, but the floor insisted on penalizing him. Both Greg “FBT” Mueller and John-Robert Bellande tried defending him but it didn’t matter. Buchanan was already short with just 8K in chips and he contemplated leaving. Shawn returned to his seat instead and was doubled up by Bellande a few hands later.
Table 249:
Jim Geary never really got it going today and got the rest of his stack all in pre-flop with K
J
. He was called by an opponent holding 8

. The flop was 9

, giving Geary one extra out. The 6
on the turn was no help and the T
on the river eliminated him. Jim will receive $4,350 for making it through the first round.
Brock “t soprano” Parker and Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah are both under 30K on their tables, and Matt “mattster24″ Sterling is the chip leader at his table with 101K.
