Boyd Doubles, Brossia And Stemper Knock Out Foes by Rachel on 07.08.09, 10:23 pm

Don’t count Dutch “havoj” Boyd” (pictured at left) out just yet boys and girls. On one of the first hands after the dinner break, Boyd pushed his stack in the middle after a raise to 2.3K and a call. The original raiser called and the other player opted to get out of the way. The hands were tabled:

Boyd: JJ
Opponent: TT

The board ran KQ65K and Boyd more than doubled his stack to 45K after slipping below 20K at one point today.

Kyle “dumpingKGB” Brossia is chipping up nicely in the Red Section of the Amazon Room. A player in late position opened to 2.3K and Brossia re-raised to 6.8K. His opponent only had about 20K behind and dumped the rest of his stack in the middle. Kyle called and saw that his 88 was ahead of his opponent’s AK. The 953 flop was very friendly and the Q on the turn changed nothing. The J on the river ended the player’s day and Brossia pulled in the pot. Kyle is now over six figures with about 130K.

Patrick “BigRed0000″ Stemper (pictured at right) and two other players saw a flop of T52 over in the Brasilia Room. The player in seat five led out for 4.5K and Stemper called before the player in seat eight raised to 10K. The player in seat five folded and Stemper made the call. The turn was the A. Stemper checked and seat eight committed most of his stack betting 10K. Stemper immediately put in a big stack of orange 5K chips to put the man all in and he reluctantly called for his last few thousand chips. Stemper showed A5 for a turned two pair and his turned over 44. The river didn’t bring the all-in player any help and he was eliminated while Stemper moved up to about 140K.

Mark “dipthrong” Herm saw his Main Event hopes come to an end when he ran his AK into pocket kings.  On the bright side, he still has his pretty awesome “SUFB” hat…

Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania almost saw his Main Event come to an end.  Mohsin opened for a raise to 2K and another player moved all-in for their final 30K.  Charania called with pocket jacks, which had his opponent’s pocket fours in bad shape.  The door card was none other than a four though and, after Mohsin failed to hit a jack on the turn or river, he was left with only 4K.  He told us he shoved every hand after that and is back up to 9K, but he still has a ways to go before he is back where he started the day.

Brian “ship_the_perc” Lemke’s (pictured at left) aggressive nature at the table paid off in the past hour. Sitting with 160K and making his prescence felt by raising early and often, Lemke raised to 2.3K at 400/800 and the small blind bumped it up to 6K. Lemke then fired in a stack of 5K denomenation orange chips, enough to put his opponent in for his remaining 34K, and he made the call:

Lemke AJ
Opponent: TT

It appeared as if Lemke would lose a sizable portion of his stack as the flop and turn brought 5429 but the A on the river shipped a 40K pot his way.

Jason “JCarver” Somerville chipped back up to 119K when he eliminated a player with AK against AQ after all the chips had gone in preflop. Somerville has almost double the current average stack.
