Blow a Tire, Blow Up the Table by Jessica on 06.29.09, 6:36 pm

He may have had a rough morning, but luckily for Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh (pictured left), his day has gotten much better since he arrived at the Rio. Slaubaugh, who is playing day one of the $1.5K NLHE event in the Miranda Room, told us he blew out a tire for the second time in a week on his way to play today. He arrived more than two hours late as a result and didn’t get to his table until the first break of the day was over. When he got there he found that his starting stack of 4.5K had been blinded down to 3.6K.

However, in roughly 30 minutes of play, Slaubaugh had already increased his stack to more than 14K. We saw him send a player to the rail K-Q on a king-high flop and later watched him re-raise and raise and a call and get two folds. In another hand, with the blinds at 75/150, Slaubaugh raised to 400 before the flop and was called by the player on the button. The flop was 954. Cody led out for 625…and the button folded. Just another day at the office, according to Brent “BHanks11” Hanks, who is seated a few tables away. He noted that Slaubaugh collects chips “like it’s his job or something.”

Alex “Kadabra” Keating was heading in the opposite direction across the room. An opponent checked to Keating on a flop of 554. He bet 600 and the other player called. The turn was the 3. The other player checked again and Keating beat 1,025. The other player then moved all in and Keating was forced to fold, leaving himself about 2K behind.

Other chip counts from around Miranda:

Hunter “The_Hunt_D” Frey - 12K
Jason “treysfull21” Mercier – 12K
Brent “BHanks11” Hanks - 7K
Jason “JP_OSU” Potter – 4.8K
Rob “veeRob” Perelman – 3.1K
Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson – 2.5K
Zach “CrazyZachary” Clark - 2K

WSOP 2009 Event #51: $1.5K NLHE

Day Three of play in the $1.5K NLHE event that started over the weekend reconvened at 1PM and in two hours they’ve already dropped from thirty players to seventeen. While Alex Jacob has hit the rail, Josh “SDouble” Schlein (860K), Owen “ocrowe” Crowe (775K), and Steven “19fmszadester” Levy (610K) are still in the running for the final table. Blinds are currently at 10K/20K ante 3K, so all of them are in good shape as play continues on.

WSOP 2009 Event #52: Triple Chance NLHE

Players in the Triple Chance got off to a late start because the tournament staff couldn’t resume play until enough tables from today’s new $1.5K NLHE had been busted out to make room for the Day Two players. The tournament got underway shortly before 3PM. Jason “JCarver” Somerville is already moving in an upwards direction. A short-stacked player moved all-in from middle position and Somerville reraised all-in from the small blind. Everyone else folded and Jason’s pocket tens held against the other player’s A-K. The other player was eliminated and Somerville increased his stack to 65K.
