Play has concluded for the evening in Event #52 here at the Rio and Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail is the leader in the clubhouse with 120.8K. Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron is biting his heels with 114K.
Cahail, pictured left, stormed over 100K when he eliminated two players in the same hand holding aces. Ylon Schwartz opened from early position and the player in the cutoff three-bet all in. Blake reshoved from the small blind and Schwartz made the call. The hands looked like this:
Schwartz: A

Cutoff: K

Cahail: A

The 8

flop was a great sweat for Ylon, but the 8
on the turn and the 5
on the river brought nothing. Blake pulled in the massive pot and cruised for the rest of the night.
Baron added a few chips to his stack at the end of the night. Baron opened to 2.6K with the blinds at 500/1K with an ante of 100. The player on the button then raised to 10K. It folded back to Baron who made the call. Both players checked down the A

board and Baron turned over 9

to take the pot.
Anthony “holdplz” Spinella was up and down during the last level of play. In one hand, Spinella raised to 2.6K with the blinds at 500/1000/100. An opponent behind him three-bet to 8K and Anthony called. The flop fell Q

. Spinella checked-called a 10K bet and the turn brought the 8
. Anthony checked again and his opponent bet 18K. Spinella called. The river card was the 6
and Anthony checked a third time. His opponent gave up, checking behind, and Spinella tabled J

. His opponent showed 4-7 for complete air and Anthony raked in the pot.
Spinella was pushing 150K, but on the last hand of the night he lost a big flip with AK against QQ. Anthony will begin Day 2 sitting with 106.7K.
Kevin “ImALuckSac” MacPhee, pictured right, boasted one of the biggest stacks in the room during Level 10. MacPhee was jovial, ordering beers for everyone around the table. He befriended the player to his right, but soon they would battle for a huge pot.
With the board reading 9

MacPhee bet 38K, enough to put his newfound friend all-in. There was over 60K in the pot, and his opponent was pained with the decision at hand. Finally he announced call tabling K

. Kevin had him in bad shape holding 9

, but in a flash the K
spiked on the river.
“NO!” Macphee shouted. “$%#@!!!”
Kevin was very upset, but he cooled off and toasted his friend nonetheless. MacPhee will have to shake off that beat, he still has 58.6K to work with.
With 7.4K in the middle already, Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz was all in before the flop for 19.6K more. As the player in seat nine contemplated a call, he asked Schwartz if he’d already registered for a tournament tomorrow. Schwartz nodded yes. “I can tell you where I’m sitting,” he joked. After a bit more time and a bit more talk the other player laid his hand down.
Here are the end of the night chip counts:
Jonathan “apestyles” Van Fleet - 101K (pictured left)
Peter “Nordberg” Feldman - 93.1K
Lee “acumen53″ Childs - 91.6K
Eric “whitE_mAmbA” Ladny – 56.4K
Tony “Bond18″ Dunst - 54.3K
Jason “JCarver” Somerville - 45.1K
Steve “PiKappRaider” Burkholder – 22.7K
Andy “BKiCe” Seth – 17.2K
Of the 854 entrants 149 will return for Day 2. Tomorrow’s restart is scheduled for 2 p.m. and play will conclude when a final table is set or the clock strikes 3 a.m.
