The Beat Goes On…and On…and On… by Jessica on 06.16.09, 10:50 pm

Players in the $1.5K NLHE event were sent on their dinner break about a half an hour ago, but one person who won’t be joining them when they return is Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke.  On the second to last hand before break Jimmy got in a preflop raising war that resulted in all the chips going in the middle with Fricke holding KK to the other player’s AA.  It was an interesting flop:  A65 and the Q on the turn gave Jimmy the flush and the advantage in the hand.  Unfortunately for Fricke, the river 5 paired the board and gave his opponent a boat.

The other player celebrated for several seconds before Jimmy politely asked him for a chip count so they could finish the hand and get one more in before break.  When all was counted down, Fricke had the other player out-chipped by 2K, which he managed to get all-in on the last hand before break.  A double up was not in the cards for Jimmy and he was sent to the rail–literally.   He walked the eight feet to the Leo Wolpert rail to join the ever-growing masses of Wolpert fans cheering him on in his final match against John Duthie.

Here are some chip counts we grabbed of players who will be returning from dinner break at around 8:15PM:

WSOP 2009 Event #29: $10K Heads-Up NLHE

The final game in the Duthie v. Wolpert match continues on. They’ve played 173 hands in Game #3 so far and Wolpert holds around a 3 to 2 chip advantage over his opponent. His rail ratio is vastly higher than Duthie’s though, that is for sure. In addition to Jimmy Fricke, Jason “JCarver” Somerville, Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer, Vivek “psyduck” Rajkumar, Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista and several others are watching their friend try to take down his first bracelet.

WSOP 2009 Event #31: $1.5K HORSE

With the elimination of Lana Maier in 10th place, we are now at the final table bubble, even though the players have technically combined to one nine-handed table. Shannon Shorr and Bryan Micon are still in and sitting in 2nd and 3rd positions on the chip counts respectively.
