Early in the tournament Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy (right) was down below 20k chips, but got lucky in a hand to double up and went on to build his stack back to a reasonable amount and work his way all the way into the fourth day of play. He had fallen back among the short stacks, but was all in with a chance to double up and have a near average stack on the money bubble when he was all in preflop with pocket jacks against the AJ of Kido Pham for a pot that would have put him well over 400k. The flop changed nothing but an ace on the turn put Kido out from and was enough to eliminate Josephy in 34th place, 7 spots shy of making it into the money.
A little luck has kept Chad “M8kingmoves” Batista in the tournament. Yesterday he was all in against Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little with his JT against the pocket tens of Little and Batista hit a jack on the river to double up and then early in the day today Chad was all in with pocket jacks against the pocket queens of Corwin Cole. A jack on the flop saved Batista this time and he went from the brink of elimination to over 600k chips.
Jason “StatusUp” Lavallee (left) started the day 3rd in chips with over 800k and has jumped to a hefty 1.3 million chip stack and the lead in the tournament. He picked up a few chips when he eliminated Dee Friedman, but by the time Lavallee finished her off Dee had already lost a monster pot to Freddy Deeb. Dee’s pocket kings ran into the pocket aces of Deeb who after doubling through Friedman trails only Lavallee in the chip counts. Freddy has over 1.2 million chips. Dee was left with less than 100k and ended up all in soon after against Lavallee whose A8 outran her pocket sixes to officially eliminate her from the tournament.
Matt “All In At 420″ Stout was able to take some chips from the husband of Dee Friedman on the last hand before break. The board showed K

and Stout had bet 72k on the river. Prahlad Friedman went into the tank, running over 7 minutes off the 15 minute break clock before finally convincing himself to call. Stout showed the K

and Prahlad mucked his hand and was left with around 400k. He had recently doubled through Brandon Cantu with AQ against Brandon’s pocket eights and an ace on the turn doubled Friedman to 550k. After getting paid off on the river hand with Friedman, Matt Stout is now right at the 500k chip mark.
Players are into the 6k / 12k 2k ante blind level and the money keeps getting closer. A few bustouts and the second level of the day could be where the money is reached.
