Barry “barrg1″ Greenstein (pictured at left) just completed an impressive day one of the $2.5K Mixed Hold’em Event. Greenstein bagged 177K at the end of the night, almost three times the average of 59K. He will almost certainly be the chipleader at the beginning of play on Thursday.
During a level of limit hold’em with the blinds at 1K/2K and limits of 2K/4K, Barry raised pre-flop and was re-raised by the player on the button. Greenstein made the call and the flop was K
T
9
. Greenstein checked, the button bet, Greenstein raised and the button made the call. The turn was the 8
. Barry led out for a bet and the button called. The river was the 3
. Barry checked this time and other player made a bet. Barry called and his opponent flung his hands into the air as if to say he had nothing. He turned over A-J and Barry showed him Q-9 to take the pot.
Shaun Deeb and another player saw a flop of Q
T
7
during the same 2K/4K-limit level. The player in seat three checked, Deeb bet and the other player called. The turn was the 3
. Again seat three checked and Deeb made a bet, but this time seat three raised. Deeb made the call and the river was the 4
. Seat three led out and Deeb called. His opponent showed Q
J
and Deeb mucked.
Deeb, who saw us recording the hand, motioned us over to say: “That’s always a fun report when I have jacks there.”
“F… people,” he continued. “You can quote me on that.”
We can’t be sure, but Clark “snake8484″ Hamagami (pictured at right) may have been thinking the same thing a short time later.
Still playing 2K/4K limit, Hamagami raised before the flop from the small blind and Deeb re-raised from the big blind. Hamagami called and the flop was A
T
2
. Hamagami checked, Deeb bet and Hamagami called. The turn was the 5
and the action was the same. Hamagami checked, Deeb bet and Hamagami called. The river was the 8
. Hamagami checked again, Deeb bet again and Hamagami called again. Deeb turned over A
T
to scoop the pot while Hamagami showed an ace and a face card (which we think was a king).
Deeb finished the night with 41.3K while Hamagami was left with just 11.7K.
Randy “Randers” Haddox will have a big stack at the beginning of day two. He won a big pot when his A
K
held up against another’s player’s A
Q
in a big all-in, pre-flop hand during a level of no-limit. The board came A

and Haddox raked in a pot worth more than 100K. He finished the night with 92K.
Other end of night chip counts:
Jeff “yellowsub” Williams - 70.1K
David “Doc Sands” Sands - 40.2K
Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire - 38.9K
Theo “pittrounder” Tran - 11.7K
WSOP 2009 EVENT #45 $10K PLHE
While it seems as if John Kabbaj might be running away with the tournament, there are still 15 other players eyeing a final table and a bracelet. Kabbaj is by and large the chip leader with 1.9 million, JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado is second and chips with just over a million.
Isaac Haxton (pictured at left) experienced a few swings within two or three orbits. Haxton doubled Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp up when the two got it all-in pre-flop. Kopp held A
T
against Isaac’s 5
5
. Billy caught a ten on the flop and ended with a broadway straight to double up. A few hands later Haxton doubled up Justin Young with 33 against QQ. Isaac dipped below 300K, but Young returned the favor by doubling Haxton up. The two were racing, AQ v TT, and Haxton’s tens held. Isaac has since slowed down a bit and sits with 506K.
Don’t look now but Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania is chipping up. Charania nursed a short stack all day but has recently doubled after waking up with wired kings. 300K surely isn’t one of the larger stacks, but it gives Mohsin room to breathe and a chance to navigate himself to the final table.
WSOP 2009 EVENT #46 $2.5K LIMIT OMAHA 8
Jeff “droogy” Tunkel, James “Flushy” Dempsey and Josh “SDouble” Schlein are all in the money in Event #46.
Jeff Tunkel found himself as a short stack before he scooped a nice sized pot at his table. The board read K
8
4
3
and Jeff bet when checked to. His opponent called and the Q
peeled on the river. Tunkel’s opponent check called another bet, and Jeff tabled A
7
8
7
for an ace high flush and an eighty-seven low. His opponent mucked and Tunkel was awarded with the 50K pot to push him up to 78K.
Split games can become very frustrating. For Josh Schlein it seems as if every pot he is in gets chopped. One particular hand an opponent rivered a better two pair on him and instead of scooping a 40K pot, Josh simply pulled his own bets back. He is still very healthy though, boasting a stack worth 140K.
James Dempsey is also floating around the 140K mark.
