Baker Really Cookin’ by Jessica on 06.04.09, 8:48 pm

The bust outs are coming fast and furious in the $1.5K 6-Handed NLHE Event #9 and several of them are coming at the hands of one David “Bakes Baker (pictured right).  We missed the preflop action, but apparently Baker raised from under the gun and a short-stacked David “DavidP18″ Peters moved all-in over the top of him.  Baker called with AT while Peters held QJ.  Baker connected with the T46 flop, but Peters picked up a straight draw when the 9 fell on the turn.  A king or eight failed to hit on the river though and Peters was eliminated while Baker increased his stack to over 200K.

A few tables away, David “the9deuce” Squires raised in early position to 4.8K with the blinds at 1K/2K ante 300 and the player on the button repopped it for 9.6K more.  Squires eyed the other player’s stack before calling.  The flop came down {ks]83 and Squires checked.  The other player bet 17.2K and David thought a while before calling.  He checked again after the 5  hit on the turn and the other player cheked behind.  The A on the river prompted David to count out a 36.1K bet.  The other player thought briefly before moving all-in and it didn’t take long for Squires to call with 88 for a set of eights.  The other player turned up AA for a rivered set of aces and Squires, who started the hand with around 140K was left with just under 20K.

While this hand was transpiring, Baker was moved to the table and eliminated Squires a few hands later when the duo got it all-in preflop with Baker holding A-K to Squires’ 9T.  The board ran out J-4-3-A-Q and Baker added even more chips to his stack, pushing his total up near 250K.

We caught one more bustout as the field dwindled down to the final ten tables when Don “DonkCrusher” Stevens (pictured left)  got it all-in preflop dominating his opponent’s A-J with his AQ.  The AQ held as the flop came down 984, bu tthe turn and river came T7 to bring a back door straight for the other player and send Stevens packing.

Darryl “DFish” Fish has also been eliminted, but Bobby “PlayaPlz” Lipkin (210K) and Ben “98 mute” Yerushalaim (120K) are still in the 55 player field.

WSOP Event #11: $2K NLHE

We caught up with Tony “Bond18″ Dunst (pictured left) in the middle of a hand in the Blue Section of the Amazon Room. The flop was out, A87, and Dunst was heads up. After being checked to, Tony led out for over 1K. His opponent quickly called. The turn was the J, and Dunst’s opponent shipped the rest of his stack in the middle. Tony reluctantly called, but found himself ahead when he turned over AK against the A6 of his opponent. Dunst had to dodge a six or a heart, but could not when the Q spiked on the river. Tony is now in trouble, sitting under 5K in chips.

There are now 870 players remaining from the original 1,646 person field.  171 players will make the money with first place taking home $569,199.
