Scott “BigRiskky” Clements came up just short of winning his third World Series of Poker bracelet this evening. Clements took second place in the $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better World Championship to Daniel Alaei, who earned $445,898 for the win.
In just the second hand of heads up action Clements raised and Alaei three bet, Clements four-bet all in and Alaei called:

WSOP 2009 Event #19: $2.5K Six-Handed NLHE
Brock “t_soprano” Parker has hit the accelerator since taking the chip lead in the $2.5K Six-handed No Limit Hold ‘em event. He’s been opening nearly every pot preflop and was involved in three all-in confrontations during Level 17.
Parker was victorious in the first one. With blinds at 3K/6K he raised to 15K on the button and the big blind moved all in for 120K more. Parker called and saw that his Q

was well ahead of his opponent’s A

. The board revealed J

and Parker increased his chip lead with a chip total of 860K.
The next two came just minutes apart and cost Parker a good portion of his stack. First, Brock raised to 15K from under the gun and a player in middle position raised all in for 108K more. Parker tanked for a minute before making the call but his A
J
needed to improve against J

The next hand he raised to 15K again from the button and the small blind reraised all in for 120K total. Parker called with Q
J
but lost a race to his opponent’s 9

. Parker is still in great shape with 640K as the level comes to a close.
Russell “rcrane082985″ Crane’s table was also full of action. We caught up with Crane getting involved in a 3-way all-in midway through the level. Howard Lederer raised to 20K in middle position and the button moved all in for 64.5K. Crane then pushed his 125K stack into the middle and Lederer mulled over a decision before calling:

flop gave the short stack the best hand and it held up, crippling both Crane and Lederer. Erick Lindgren, seated across from Crane, chimed in: “This is a sick table. We figured out a way to get three people all in and nobody went home.”
“I’ll try harder,” Lederer responded. Lederer kept his promise by running pocket sixes into pocket kings a half hour later. Lindgren was also sent to the rail. Crane, however, doubled his stack on the very next hand when he moved his 60K stack in preflop with J

and got the best of the big blind’s A

when the board ran out K

With 27 players remaining and the average stack at 300K here’s a look at the P5ers still going strong:
Brock “t_soprano” Parker - 640K
Jay “SEABEAST” Kincade - 205K
Blair “blur5f6″ Hinkle - 195K
Clayton “clayton_27″ Newman - 182K
Brett “threatnasty” Switzer - 150K
Russell “rcrane082985″ Crane - 130K
WSOP 2009 Event #21: $3K HORSE
Only a handful of players are missing from the 452-person field, but there are a couple of P5ers on the ropes in Level 5. Craig “MrCasino” Gray is down to his last 1.5K and Kevin “kice32″ Iacafano is starting to get short at 4K. Kevin’s tablemate, Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke (pictured right), doesn’t have that problem. He is one of the bigger stacks we’ve spotted in the field so far with 20K.
One P5er who has Jimmy’s chip stack bested is Dan “Wretchy” Martin, who is sitting with 23K. Martin recently tangled in a multi-way limped pot at the 150/300 level in the Omaha H/L round with longtime pro Chad Brown. The flop was 9
3
3
and it checked to Martin, who bet. Brown was the only caller and the two saw the J
fall on the turn together. Brown checked and Martin quickly bet again. Brown called and the river came 9
, double pairing the board. This time Brown led out and Dan called.
“Ace three,” said Martin as he flipped up his cards.
“Ace nine,” Brown responded, turning up his cards to reveal a missed flush and straight draw combination that turned into a rivered set of trip nines to take the pot.
Here are some other stacks we spotted as we perused the room:
Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke - 20K
Aaron “NDGrinder59″ Steury - 19K
Shannon Shorr - 16.5K
Darus “BejoMas” Suharto - 16K
Jason “JP OSU” Potter - 16K
Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar - 14K
WSOP 2009 Event #20: $1.5K PLHE
Phil “USCPhildo” Collins is bound and determined to get a WSOP 2009 cash under his belt. His tablemate Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail joked that Collins would in fact fold to the cash, but Phil quickly assured him he wasn’t kidding.
“If I don’t cash in this I quit. I quit poker entirely,” Phil emphasized. We suggested he open some sort of South Carolina surf shack, but Blake suggested Phil should just wander around as a professional “greeder”, taking free things wherever he can find them. Correct us if we’re wrong, but wouldn’t that just make Phil the new Chainsaw? Either way, Phil does appear poised to make the money, especially after he won the following pot with Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier (pictured left). We missed the action, but Collins and Cahail kindly provided us with the details:
Jason raised from middle position with the blinds at 400/800 and a player flat called behind him while Phil called from the big blind. Collins checked to Mercier on the 9-8-4 flop with two hearts. Mercier bet 3.1K, the other player folded, Phil raised to 13K (essentially half of his stack) and Mercier thought before moving all-in. Phil called with pocket jacks, which just bested Mercier’s pocket tens. Mercier was eliminated while Collins built his stack up to 54K.
Hunter “The_Hunt_D” Frey had been battling a short stack since dinner break, but he got a much needed double up at the right time to put him back in the middle of the pack. Shortly after play resumed Antonio Esfandiari raised, another player called, and Hunter called as well with pocket kings. Esfandiari led the K-Q-4 with two clubs board and Hunter moved all-in. Antonio elected to call with 9
9
, which failed to catch up with Hunter’s hand. After the pot was shipped HUnter’s way Frey was up to over 30K while Esfandiari was left with only three big blinds and hit the rail shortly thereafter.
