The Agony of Defeat by Jessica on 06.14.09, 5:37 am

With the eliminations of Senovio “Dorsal Fin” Ramirez (pictured right) in 12th place and Mark Bartlog in 11th, play in the $5K PLO H/L event combined to 10-handed play. It seemed as if we were going to see an end to the night when Roland de Wolfe and Armando Ruiz got it all-in on the turn with de Wolfe holding the wheel to Ruiz’s set of fives, but the board managed to pair on the river and they chopped the pot.

Just a few hands after that, with the blinds at 10K/20K, Stewart “Stuman123″ Yancik raised from the hijack and Anthony Lallouche called from the button. Both players checked the 775 flop and Yancik checked again when the 6 came on the turn. Lallouche bet out 35K and Stu called. The river was the J and Stu led out for 35K. Lallouche then put in a hefty raise of 120K more and it didn’t take long for Yancik to declare, “call.” Yancik mucked his hand when Anthony turned over A267 for sevens full of sixes and the nut low. It was enough to scoop the pot and Stu dropped down to 140K.

Shortly after that, Scott “BigRiskky” Clements opened for 30K from under the gun and Yancik declared “pot” and put in a raise of 105K, essentially committing himself all-in. It folded back around to Clements, who reraised enough to put Yancik all-in and Yancik called. Here is what each player held:

Yancik: A942
Clements: AQ53

The flop helped both players as it came down JT6, as it gave Clements a gutshot straight draw and Yancik a flush draw. The Q paired Clements’ queen and the river J sealed Stu’s fate as the final table bubble boy for the second time in a week. Yancik was clearly disappointed in his finish, but we here at P5s would like to commend him for his two deep runs so far this WSOP.

As players bagged and tagged we spotted that Clements is going to start tomorrow with 801K, enough to give him an ample chip lead over the rest of the field. Final table play will begin tomorrow at 2PM.
