The enormous blinds in the $10K PLHE Championship have really forced the action. They are currently at 50K/100K, meaning even if a player has a million chips, they are still not in great shape. JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado was sitting on 1.5 million when he minraised to 200K and John Kabbaj reraised to 700K total. Alvarado moved all-in and Kabbaj called with TT. JC was racing once again, this time holding AQ. His hand was unable to improve as the board ran out J767J and he was eliminated in 5th place, earning $138,375.

Shortly after Alvarado’s demise Davidi “legrouzin” Kitai (pictured left) got the remainder of his chips in the middle. With the blinds at 50K/100K chip leader Kirill Gerasimov opened for a raise to 260K and Kitai moved all-in for his last 760K and Gerasimov called. Davidi’s 55 were racing with Kirill’s KT and the J72 flop still left Davidi with a lot of outs to fade. The turn was a harmless 8, but Gerasimov spiked a K on the river to make a pair of kings, take the pot, and eliminate Kitai in 4th place, which is good enough for $183,638 in prize money.

WSOP 2009 Event #48: $1.5K PLO Hi/Lo

Shortly after Phil Hellmuth took a seat to his left, Jesse “JMaster30″ Cohen (pictured right) knocked a player out of Event #48. With blinds at 400/800 a short-stacked player raised to 2.2K from under the gun and Cohen raised pot. It folded back around to the original raiser, who called all in and we prepared for a showdown:

Cohen: AA96
Opponent: AAJ3

The board ran out QT35J, giving Cohen a flush to scoop the pot, eliminate the player and increase his stack to more than 12K.

Aaron “gotcha55″ Kanter has watched his stack diminish since our last report. Once as high as 45K, Kanter is now down to 26K after losing back-to-back pots at the end of Level 8. The first was a big one: On a board of TT76 Kanter bet 7.1K and an opponent moved all in for 17.6K. Kanter called to find the other player with AT87 for a full house. Kanter’s AQT4 was no good when the 9 fell on the river and he was left with 29K. He doubled another player up on the very next hand to slip to around 26K.

Matt “SamENole” Smith has been moved yet again. We’re not sure how many that makes today, but we were told by a floorman that the WSOP record is eight in one day. Smith is currently working with 22K and will probably moved at least once more before play ends tonight.

Chris “SKOAL” Falconer and Jim Geary were among the eliminations in the past hour.
