$5K PLO Ends in a Flash by Brett on 06.19.09, 11:30 pm

Just like that, the $5K Pot Limit Omaha event was over.

Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi (pictured right) and Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy got involved in a three-way all-in with Richard Austin as all of the chips went in on a K93 flop with Austin having both covered:

Austin: QJ85
Mizzi:AA53
Josephy: AKK3

Josephy held the best hand with a set of kings, Mizzi had an overpair and Austin held a gutshot straight draw and flush draw. The 8 on the turn changed nothing but then the river brought the 7.

It took the players a few seconds to realize that Austin had made his flush and the best hand. Josephy shrugged his shoulders, shook each player’s hand and left the featured stage with $166,771. Mizzi earned $253,048 for his second place finish. Richard Austin is your Event #35 champion, taking $409,484 back to his home in Louisville, Kentucky.

WSOP 2009 EVENT #36 $2K NLHE

Matt “mlagoo” LaGarde (pictured left) has taken a hit since returning from dinner break. We walked up to his table in the middle of a hand where there was over 40K in the middle. The board read QQ938 and LaGarde’s opponent had lead out for 15K. Matt tanked for a very long call before making the call. His opponent tabled 93 for two pair queens and nines and Matt mucked. That hand dropped LaGarde under 50K in chips.

Jason “JAKoon1985″ Koon is doing his best to battle the super-aggressive David “Chino” Rheem at his table. Koon raised to 12.5K from under the gun with the blinds at 1.5K/3K/400. Chino called from middle position and so did the player in the big blind. The flop fell Q65, the big blind checked and Koon led out for 9K. Both Rheem and the big blind called. All three players checked the 8 and the 2 on the river. Both Koon and the big blind chopped with QJ and Rheem mucked his hand claiming he held 76.

WSOP 2009 EVENT #37 $10K STUD 8

Jon “PearlJammer” Turner is among the chip leaders in Event #37 with over 200K in chips. Dutch “havoj” Boyd grew his stack a bit to 165K and Justin “BoostedJ” Smith is short with 57K.
