WSOP 2009 Event #47: $2.5K Mixed Hold’em
Several players couldn’t wait to get back from break to double up their short stacks during the NLHE portion of the level. While some, like Tristan “Cre8ive” Wade were successful, others, like Joe Sebok and Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista (pictured right) were not as fortunate.
We watched as the player in the small blind checked to Chad in the cutoff after the flop came down Q

. Batista moved all-in for his last 4,300 and the other player thought a minute before calling with A

. Chad’s Q

failed to improve and he headed for the door towards the beginning of Level Five.
The action was fast and furious at one table where Chris “SLOPPKLOD” Klodnicki opened for a raise from the button with the blinds at 100/200 ante 25, Justin “fluffdog” Filtz reriased to around 1.4K out of the small blind, and the player put in a fourth bet to almost 5K. Klodnicki moved all-in for around 7.5K on top of his initial raise, Filtz folded and the other player called.
“Do you have an ace?,” Klodnicki asked.
“No,” his opponent responded.
“Phew,” replied Chris, tabling K

. The other player showed T

, the board ran out 8

and Chris doubled up to around 16.5K.
Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar didn’t appear to see much big action during the NLHE portion of the level, but shortly after the Limit Hold’em portion began he got involved in a big pot with Svetlana Gromenkova. Aguiar and Gromenkova were two of several people who saw the A

flop in a raised pot. Svetlana led out for 600 and it folded around to Jon on the button who raised to 1,200. Gromenkova 3-bet him and Aguiar called. The turn was the 4
and Svetlana led out once again, this time for 1,200. Jon raised and Svetlana flat called. The river was the 3
and Gromenkova checked to Aguiar who bet. She called and he showed A

for aces up and a missed nut flush draw. Gromenkova revealed her A

for top set, which was enough to take down the pot.
After the hand, Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein, who is seated to Jon’s right, summed up the situation quite aptly:
“Your hand looked good…until she turned hers over.” After the hand Jon dropped down to 8.5K
WSOP 2009 EVENT #45 $10K PLH
Stammen, pictured left, and Max Greenwood got all their chips in the middle pre-flop, Keven holding 99 against Greenwood’s AK. The Q-Q-J flop did not hit Max directly, but he added seven extra outs. Stammen faded every one of them when the turn and river came 3
, 8
and scooped the pot. Keven is now a top dog with 350K.
Haxton took his pot off of Dmitry Gromov on an adjacent table. We caught up with the action on the turn, the board reading Q

. Haxton led out for 53K and Gromov dipped into the tank. A nearby table was waiting for an extra player, so the players added to the flock of media members surrounding the table. Dmitry had 135K and could not just call, it was all-in or fold. Gromov chose all in and Isaac snap called tabling K
J
for the nut-straight. Dmitry showed J-T and needed a king to chop the pot. The river was the 5
eliminating Gromov from the tournament. Haxton saw his stack balloon to 400K.
Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp took a hit when he ran QQ into AA. Kopp has since gained some of those chips back without many showdowns. He did eliminate a player holding AT against 66. The flop fell K-K-7 and miraculously two more kings came on the turn and river to give Kopp quads with an ace kicker. Billy is sitting around 275K.
We missed the hands, but both Christian “charder30″ Harder and Alex “AJKHoosier1″ Kamberis are busto. Betrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania and Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier have short stacks and need to chip up if they want to make Day 3.
WSOP 2009 Event #44: $2.5K Razz
Play at the final table of the Razz event is now 5-handed and Ryan “gotskillz” Fisler is still in the running for the bracelet. He is currently sitting fourth on the chip counts with almost 200K. The current chip leader is Jeffrey Lisandro, who is poised to win his third bracelet of 2009.
Allen “albari” Bari (pictured left)was eliminated in eighth place, good enough for $19,880. Considering he compared playing Razz to being imprisoned late last night, we’re guessing he’s likely handling his bustout fairly well.
