The field Event #39 has more than halved since its 12 p.m. start earlier today. Of the 2,715 starters, only 1,270 remain.
Dutch “havoj” Boyd is one of the survivors, and he just added to his already big stack. The board read A

and a player in the blinds checked to Boyd. Dutch bet 2K and his opponent called. The river was the 6
and again Boyd’s opponent checked. Dutch quickly fire 7K, almost a pot-sized bet. His opponent thought it through before lining up chips and calling. Dutch showed K

for trip kings and his opponent mucked. After the hand, Boyd stacked his chips and left the area to take a short break. His chips will be blinded off while he’s gone, but with 42K, roughly four times the average stack, we’re pretty sure Dutch is OK with that.
Simon “PokerBrat13″ Charette (pictured left) will be taking a longer break. We saw him walking towards the rail and got the scoop on his bust-out hand from the table. According to the table, there were four limpers in the pot and the action fell on Charette. Simon squeezed from the big blind and was called by the under the gun limper. Charette held fours but his caller had sixes and with no help from the board Simon was sent home.
Jason “JCarver” Somerville got a much needed double up when a player raised in middle position with the blinds at 150/300 ante 25 and Jason moved all-in from the button for 4,025 more. The initial raiser thought a while befor ecalling with A

, which was trailing Somerville’s A

WSOP 2009 Event #40: $10K PLO Championship
You guys hopefully know the drill with these PLO events right now. Players start with three red chips, each worth 10K in tournament chips. They can take the full 30K up front, start with 10K, or settle for something else somewhere in between. They have until the end of the first two levels to put all of their 30K in play. Hope we’re all caught up to speed.
One player who started out with only 10K in chips may not need to be cashing in his other two any time soon. Full Tilt Pro Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby (pictured left) appears to be on a day trip from the nit cave and got involved in a big pot with Dario Minieri very early in the event. With the blinds at 50/100 Jared opened for a raise from early position and Dario Minieri reraised to 800 total. It folded back around to Hamby and he quickly repotted it for an additional 1,650. Minieri called and the two saw a flop of 8

. Hamby led for 4.5K, Minieri reraised to 10K total, and Jared happily tossed the rest of his chips in the pot, tabling A

for trip eights. Minieri revealed Q

and the turn and river failed to improve his hand, so Jared jumped up to 22K with two rebuy chips to spare within the first fifteen minutes of play.
WSOP 2009 Event #36: $2K NLHE
Jonathan “therookieqq9″ Plens was the short stack going into the final table of the $2K NLHE event and after his J-8 failed to best Joe “Dyzalot” Morneau’s A-7 he was eliminated in 9th place, earning $61,081. Morneau is currently the chip leader in the event with nearly 2.5 million chips. Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith is sitting in fifth with approximately 1.15 million.
The seven remaining players are currently on dinner break and will resume play around 7:10PM PT.
