With such a large field, it is difficult to keep track of all the famous faces, but we have spotted Cardrunners’ Lee Jones, Mike “The Mad Genius” Caro, Shirley Williams, “Captain” Tom Franklin, and noted tournament director Jack McClelland. This year’s seniors event is the largest in the history of the WSOP. With registration open for another half an hour, there are already 2,217 entrants.
In addition to the familiar faces in the tournament, we also spotted several interesting people gathered along the rail. Someone has called in back up in the form of rail birds sporting shirts that read “Rudy’s Rooters” and play on the Hooters logo. Several of the players have also dressed to the nines for the event. A number of players are sporting some quality cowboy gear and one gentleman in the orange section is ready for battle with his headband bearing the Japanese rising sun.
While some have called in reinforcements, Lon McEachern (pictured at right) is holding his own just fine. McEachorn took an early hit to his stack but has since managed to work his way back up to his starting 3K.
