Huge pot. 8 high. Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul. To quote Joe Stapleton, the story checks out. In the largest pot of the tournament by far, Saul played a huge hand with Kofi “redsoxsox” Farkye that left a lot of people around the Commerce shaking their heads for a multitude of different reasons. To start the hand both players had just under 200k chips in front of them and were among the chip leaders in the room and both a reputation for making some creative moves at the table.
After a player limped Saul raised to 3,500 and Kofi made it 10k. Kevin put in another bet making it 27k to go and Farkye made the call. On the K

flop Saul led out for 36k and Farkye made it 80k to go. There was no surrender in Kevin though and he moved all in for 164k total. Farkye made the call and when the hands were turned up there was a lot of surprise all around. To start with, Saul had the impressive holding of the 8

, but he at least had been pushing the action the whole way representing a big hand. Farkye managed to get his 200k stack in with the K
J
and his call turned out to be right, rewarding him with the almost 400k pot and putting him near the chip lead to end day 1.
Yevginey “Atimos” Timoshenko was able to get a player to call off the last of his chips late to win a nice pot with a set of threes. On a board of K
T

the other player bet 15k with about 30k behind and Timoshenko moved all in, covering the other player. “I can’t think of anything I can beat” he said while pondering his decision. Even after that statement he ended up calling, and he was right, his A
K
was drawing dead against Yevginey’s set of threes.
Late eliminations included:
Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin
Justin “looshle” Pechie
Jamie “Cronic420″ Rosen
Chris “cdbr3799″ Dombrowski
The final chip counts for the roughly 170 remaining players will be available shortly.
