“Got aces?”
This was the question Roland De Wolfe had for Keven “stammdogg” Stammen (pictured at left) after Stammen raised to 41K in first position with the blinds at 10K/20K with a 3K ante in the $2.5K NLHE event. De Wolfe continued to chat with Stammen, who sat on his immediate right, for a while longer before eventually deciding to raise. It fold backed around to Stammen who immediately moved all in. De Wolfe snapped-called and got his answer.

board, and he was eliminated by Stammen who moved over the 1 million chip mark. He now sits with about 1.3 million.
Brett “threatnasty” Switzer did not fair as well in the all-in pot he played at the same table. When we arrived back at the table Switzer had raised enough to put an opponent all in before the flop. (We’re not sure if there had been any action before his raise.) His opponent made a resigned call with his A
T
but was ahead of Switzer’s K
Q
. The board came 6

and Switzer was left with only about 85K after the hand. He was eliminated a short time later when his A-J was beaten by his opponent’s Q-J when the other player back-doored a flush.
Garrett “GBecks” Beckman busted a player at his table a short time ago (according to a railbird). He told us he has about 650K now.
There are currently 11 players left as they continue to play down to a winner.
WSOP EVENT #14: $2.5K 6-MAX LHE
Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan was eliminated from the $2.5K six-max limit hold’em event in eighth place, but Brock “t soprano” Parker is still very much alive with about 510K at the players’ first 20-minute break of the day.
Parker called a raise on the button in the final hand before the break with the 10K/20K and he and one other player saw a flop of A

. The other player checked, Parker bet and the other player called. The turn was the T
. Again the action was check, bet, call. The river was the 6
. Parker’s opponent called one last bet after checking, and Parker turned over A
8
. The other player mucked and Parker raked in the pot.
Daniel Negreanu appears to be the chip leader with seven people left. He has about 750K.
WSOP EVENT #15: $5K NLHE
A handful of P5ers have already been eliminated on Day 2 of the $5K NLHE event. Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke (pictured at right) was visibly discouraged after his exit and understandable so after beginning the day with more than 112K chips.
Fricke first got involved in a hand with Jason “TheMasterJ33″ Dewitt. With blinds at 600/1200 Jimmy raised to 3.5K from middle position and DeWitt made it 9K to go with around 30K left behind. Fricke asked for a count and thought he heard DeWitt say he had 38K more. He moved all in and Dewitt called quickly, showing A

. Fricke revelead his A
J
and gave DeWitt a serious sweat when the flop came 9

2
. The turn and river were no help to Fricke, however, and he lost more than 1/3 of his stack.
Jimmy busted just moments later. He raised to 3.5K from the cutoff and was called by the button before the player in the small blind reraised to 13K. Fricke moved all in for around 45K, the button folded and the small blind called:
Fricke: 9

Fricke’s opponent had him covered chip-wise and when the board revealed K

he was eliminated.
Dan “Wretchy” Martin tracked us down and told us that he had been knocked out within minutes of sitting down at his table. Kathy Liebert raised to 3.6K and Martin moved all in for 18K. Liebert called with pocket nines and won a race against Martin’s AJ.
Blair “blur5f6″ Hinkle was another player making an early exit.
Steve “SteveyBallGame” Merrifield (pictured at left) has been one of the movers early on. We caught up with Merrifield moving all in for 41K on a K
Q

board. His opponent took awhile before calling with A
Q
, which was only drawing to a chop against Merrifield. The river brough the 9
and Merrifield increased his stack to around 125K.
Jason “JCarver” Somerville is up to 225K and is one of the chip leaders. According to his twitter page he has flopped three sets already and “has lots of chips.” What else is new?
WSOP EVENT #17: $1K LADIES NLHE
THE $1K ladies event just returned from a 30 minute break and resumed play. Maria “maridu” Mayrinck had already more than doubled her 3K starting stack with 6.4K at break. We spotted Amanda “Mandy B” Baker in the crowd at break and will do our best to bring you updates on her progress, as well as the progress of other PocketFivers, throughout the day.
