Big Pots and Big Stacks for Hall and Gentry by Rachel on 06.06.09, 3:54 am

Ryan “late_entry” Gentry just won a half-million dollar pot in dramatic fashion in the $2K NLHE event. We caught up with the action after both players were all in before the flop. Gentry showed KK while the other player turned over A9. The flop was A62, giving his opponent the lead. However, the turn was the K. Gentry sat stoically as the card hit, while the other player let out a cry of pain. The river was a meaningless 2. Gentry now has 500K while the other player was sent to the rail.

Scott “stpauli111″ Hall (pictured at left) also has a big stack, despite doubling up a short stack. Hall called a 91.5K shove before the flop with A7, but his opponent had him out-kicked with A9. The board was no help for hall, who now has about 430K.

Other chip counts:

Jason “JAKoon1985″ Koon - 350K
Kevin “bukowski101″ McColgan - 205K
Eric “white_mamba” Ladny - 150K
Jonathan “FatalError” Aguair - 180K

WSOP 2009 Event #13: $2.5K NLHE

We reported on the unfortunate demise of Jamie “pokerjamers” Armstrong earlier, but what we didn’t realize was that he had a doppleganger in the field. Or, at least a guy who could be mistaken as his brother. The player, who we’ll refer to as Pseudojamers is seated at the same table as Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman (pictured right) and Justin “jurollo” Rollo, both of whom couldn’t help but notice the resemblance. Freeman tangled with Pseudojamers when the player in the hijack raised to 2.5K with the blinds at 500/1,000 ante 100 and Pseudojamers reraised all-in for 7.6K total. Freeman then put in a sizeable reraise in from the blinds to 20.2K–enough to put the initial raiser all-in. The initial raiser folded and the cards were turned face up. Freeman held AA while Pseudojamers trailed with his 77. The board ran out J395x and Freeman eliminated the short-stacked imposter to increase his stack to almost 60K.

Here are some of the chip stacks we spotted thru our most recent lap around the $2.5K NLHE Event:

Alex “Kadabra” Keating - 98K
Garrett “GBecks” Beckman - 70K
Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman - 59K
Brandon Schaeffer - 55K
Justin “jurollo” Rollo - 40K
Carter “ckingusc” King - 40K
Scott “BigRiskky” Clements - 40K
Justin “looshle” Pechie - 38.5K
Jeremiah “Believer82″ Vinsant - 32.5K
Joe Sebok - 20.5K
Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy - 15K
Keven “stamdogg” Stammen - 15K
Darren Elias - 14K

Frank “Round42″ Rusnak, Frank “Frank1the1Tank” Calo, and Seth “grtwhitehoop” Fischer are some of the players we can’t seem to find in the field anymore and are presumed eliminated.

WSOP EVENT #15: $2.5K 6-HANDED LHE

We recently walked through the $2.5K Limit Hold’em Six-Max event and caught Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich (pictured at left) with a decision to make on the river. With the blinds at 200/400 and limits of 400/800, the board read T876A. His opponent had made a bet and Rich thought for a while before called. The other player showed Q4 for a back-door flush. Jordan mucked, saying he had made aces up on the river. The other player complimented him on not raising the river, but Rich told us he wish he had played the flop differently.

“I should’ve bet that flop,” he said, giving his wrist a slap before reconsidering. “I didn’t have anything on the flop, though.”

His currently has 14K, nearly twice his starting stack of 7.5K.

He’s also enjoying a cold beverage at the table, something he said he’s only done once before. The game he was playing that time? Razz. So, limit hold’em and razz = need a drink.

Jon “PearlJammer” Turner is also still playing. He led out with a bet with the board reading KJ7TK, but was raised by the player in seat five. Turner mucked his hand, saying, “You win this round…just like last round.”

WSOP Event #10: $2.5K Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha

With the elimination of Daniel “amichaiKK” Makowsky in 5th and Cornel Cimpan in 4th, we are now 3-handed in the $2.5K Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha event and P5er Rami “arbianight” Boukai is currently the chip leader with 1.6 million.  Najib Binnanni is second with 1.1 million chips and Ben Grundy is the short stack with 700K.
