PocketFivers Still Sprinkled Throughout $2K NLHE Field by Rachel on 06.05.09, 3:15 am

Tables are breaking in the Amazon Room, and the remaining participants in the 2K event are being dispersed throughout the room.

We found bracelet-winner Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier (pictured at at left) sitting next to Faraz “The-Toilet” Jaka on one table. They are both very comfortable, sitting with 72K and 55K respectively. Also accounted for are Steve “PiKappRaider” Burkholder (33K), Jason Gray (19K), Dan “Wretchy” Martin (70K).

Other p5ers are chipping up as well. Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby informed us that he doubled recently, when after a limp and a raise he shoved all in with two black aces. The raiser called with jacks and Hamby’s hand held, doubling him to 35K.

Amanda “Mandy B” Baker has doubled her stack again. Baker got it all in with QQ against the two tens of her opponent. The board ran J8832, and Amanda doubled to around 26K.

We caught Darren Elias facing a 4K river bet into a pot of about 16K. The board read T649K. Elias thought for a short while before deciding to make the call. It was a good one. His opponent turned over 33 and Elias showed him the best hand with J9.

Matt “Claw1980″ Holtzclaw told us he was down to 19K after running his queens into kings in the final hand before his table broke. However, Holtzclaw picked up aces at his new table and busted a player holding A-K to rebound back to 39K.

We also bumped into Justin “lockdownpokah” Allen, who told us he shoved A-J in the small blind only to be called by AA in the big blind. Allen didn’t get lucky, and busted.

WSOP EVENT #10: $2.5K POT-LIMIT HOLD’EM/OMAHA

We caught with this hand involving Jamie “TheChronic420″ Rosen after the flop in the $2.5K Pot-Limit HA event. Rosen, who had been in the small blind, and the player with the button saw the QT9 flop with about 12K already in the pot. Both players checked and the turn was the 2. This time Rosen bet 12.5K and was called. The river was the A and again Rosen checked. With four to a flush on the board, the button checked as well, and Rosen tabled KJ for a flopped king-high straight that improved to broadway on the river. His opponent showed his K-Q before mucking.

“Wish I would have gotten some more money,” Rosen said, drawing a reply of, “I had a bad feeling on the flop,” from the other player.

After the redraw at 27 players, Rosen is now seated at the same table as Hevad Khan and Amit “amak316″ Makhija.

Jonathan “driverseati” Tamayo (pictured at right) was just eliminated in 26th place, earning $7,918. Play will continue tonight until the final table of nine players is reached or until 3 a.m., depending on which comes first.

Here are approximate chip counts:

Rami “arbianight” Boukai - 190K
Jamie “TheChronic420″ Rosen - 165K
Amit “amak316″ Makhija - 155K
Hevad Khan - 120K

WSOP EVENT #7: $1.5K NLHE

Five remain at the 1.5K final table, and Mark “markysals1″ Salinaro is clinging on with 1.1 million in chips. He is the short stack, but the minimum pay out now is $145,721. Not too bad for a $1.5K investment!
