The $1.5K Pot-Limit Omaha, event #5 of this series, is down to the final nine. Four p5ers will be present at tomorrow’s final table: Kevin “Kice32″ Iacofano (pictured at left), Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier, Matt “Hazards21″ Giannetti and Steve “PiKappRaider” Burkholder.
Iacofano increased his stack rapidly towards the end of Level 17, the last full level of play of the night. On one occasion, he put Jae Chang all in after Chang raised from early position. Chang made the call, ahead with K

. Iacofano needed help with A

flop. Chang was drawing dead on the flop, and after the board ran 8-4 Kevin scooped a big pot. Just a few hands later, he was paid off on the river after turning a flush against An Tran. Iacofano will begin tomorrow as the chipleader, with 770K.
Mercier too was involved in a big hand late. Action was checked to him on a T

{5d) board, and he led out for 41K. His only opponent tanked before making the call. The turn was the 6
, and again Mercier was checked to. He slowly measured out orange and yellow chips, and then pushed 108K into the middle. There was no call this time, and Mercier won the pot. Jason ended the night with 384K.
Burkholder, who won a big pot from Mercier and another player with quad aces earlier in the night, and Giannetti are just below average, with 263K and 311K respectively.
All nine players will return to compete for $237,415 and a WSOP Bracelet tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m. PST.
WSOP EVENT #3: $1.5 NLHE
Over on the other side of the Amazon Room, the $1.5K NLHE tournament just concluded for the night. Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman had just been called on a flop of 7
3
2
when we caught up with the action in this hand. The turn was the 6
. This time Freeman checked and his opponent bet 6K. Freeman quickly moved the rest of his stack in and was insta-called. Freeman knew he was in bad shape with his 8
T
. It turns out his opponent had turned a set of sixes with 6
6
. No nine came for Freeman on the river. It was the J
, and he was eliminated from the tournament.
“You just busted a legend,” said Jeff “jeffboski” Sluzinsky (pictured at right) to the older-than-your-typical-internet-legend man who busted Freeman. The comment got no reaction, so Sluzinsky looked at us and simply said, “He doesn’t care.”
Jesse “JMaster130″ Cohen stopped by to tell us about his bustout hand. He said the under-the-gun player raised to 2.1K with the blinds at 400/800 with a 100-chip ante and the person in the next seat called. He shoved in his last 20K with Q-Q
. The original raiser called all in for about 15K and the other player, who had Cohen well covered, called as well. Both of Cohen’s opponent turned over red A-K’s. The flop was an exciting A
7
6
, meaning Cohen would need to complete his spade flush or hit a queen to nearly triple up. The turn was the A
and the river was the K
, Cohen was eliminated.
Here are some chip counts we caught as the players were bagging their chips:
Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi - 89.5K
Brandon Cantu - 76.1K
Grant “drossxyu” Hinkle - 62.1K
Ben “BFineman” Fineman - 47.8K
Andy “BKiCe” Seth - 26.5
Jeff “jeffboski” Sluzinsky - 14.6K
Action was a little slow toward the end of the night as the players neared the money bubble. There are currently 338 players remaining according to the tournament clock and 297 with make the money. We’ll be here to find out who makes it tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m.
WSOP EVENT #8: $2.5K 2-7 SINGLE DRAW
Barry Greenstein is very healthy in the 2-7 Single Draw event, sitting with 55.2K in chips. Brett “Gank” Jungblut can’t say the same. Jungblut recently raised with the blinds at 250/500/125, and Phil Ivey re-raised him all in. Brett called, and they both drew one card. Ivey tabled a ten low, and Jungblut busted revealing a jack low. We’ve just received word that Mike “SirWatts” Watson has hit the rail as well.
The players will finish two more levels before bagging their chips up for the night.
