“Whitealroker” Goes To WAR By Accident by Rachel on 06.01.09, 4:57 am

A lapse in concentration just netted Steve “whitealroker” Bent (pictured at left) a big pot in the very last hand of the night in the 1k stimulus event.

With the blinds at 400/800 and a 100 chip ante, seat four at Bent’s table moved all in in early position for more than 9K. Bent, though, did not see the shove and tried to raise to 2.5K when action folded to him. As soon as he put the chips in the pot, seat four began to insist that the action was binding. The dealer began to call the floor, but Bent agreed the action was binding and decided to call the all in bet. His stack was 15.6K before the hand so he had the other player cover. The rest of the table got out of the way, and the players flipped up their cards:

Bent: 77
Seat four: AK

The board ran out Q2259. Bent’s pair held up, and he eliminated the player and chipped up to 27.2 K at the end of the night.

Jack “doctor_fun” Powell busted a player in a much smaller pot just before the end of the night. Powell called his opponent’s final 1700 chips before the flop with 44. The other player showed AK. The board was Q9365, and Powell added to his already big chip stack. He finished the day with 71K.

Justin “fluffdog” Filtz (pictured at right) caused a rather amusing final hand of the night at his table. Filtz raised to 2.6K from middle position, and action folded to the big blind who tanked. There was a minute left in the day, and some players in the area were clearly stalling to ensure they made Day 2. But this man was deep in thought — his face pained. As the clock ticked to zero, other players began to high five and celebrate, but play had not ended just yet. Finally the man folded, revealing the Q. Filtz slid his cards to the dealer, and requested they be turned face up. The table erupted in laughter when T4 was exposed. Justin escaped with the bluff, finishing with 14.5K for the day.

Other Day 1B survivors include:

Shaundle “CrAzYSiXeS66” Pruitt – 37.4K
Steve “time4badbeat” Wagner - 35K
Bryan Micon – 27K
Rusty “rustyhanson” Hagenbuch - 25.7K

The players will return tomorrow at 2 p.m. with the survivors of Day 1A to continue play.
